The experimental results have demonstrated that tools made from nitride ceramics have high efficiency in the high-speed machining of nickel-based AP741NP alloy. The wear of these tools proved to depend on the cutting modes, as well as the properties and structure of ceramics. Features of the wear of cutting tools from nitride ceramics are determined when machining nickel-based AP741NP alloy.

As a result of conducting numerical experiments a complex effect is revealed for titanium carbide coating thickness on the change in stressed state of a Si3N4–TiC–Y2O3-ceramic surface layer under action of a distributed force. It is established that an increase in TiC-coating thickness leads to an increase in σi inhomogeneity and an ambiguous change in σ11, σ22, and σ12 inhomogeneity within a nitride ceramic surface layer.

The effect of titanium carbide coating thickness on transformation of the stressed state of a surface layer of Si3N4–TiC–Y2O3-ceramic under action of a concentrated force is studied. It is established that an increase in TiC-coating thickness leads to an increase in stresses σ11, σ22, σ12 and stress intensity σi within a nitride ceramic surface layer.

Basic features are revealed for the stressed state of a boundary between ceramic and coating with simultaneous action of heat flow, and concentrated and distributed forces. The effect of ceramic grain material on the stressed state of a ceramic–coating boundary is determined.

A technique for the investigation of the stressed state of the boundary between ceramic and a coating is developed. The basic laws governing the development of stresses in the boundary layers of nitride ceramic and a coating made of titanium nitride under the effect of concentrated and distributed forces are found with the use of the technique. The need to take into account the stressed state of a ceramic — coating boundary in the course of analyzing the wear and degradation of ceramic parts in the course of design, manufacture, and service is noted.

The effect of titanium carbide coating thickness on transformation of the stressed state of a Si3N4–TiC–Y2O3-ceramic surface layer under action of heat flow is studied. It is established as a result of numerical experiments that an increase in TiC coating thickness from 5 to 15 μm, applied to nitride ceramic, leads to a reduction in ceramic temperature, and increase in σ11, σ22, σ12, and σi, and indices of their structural inhomogeneity in a ceramic surface layer.

As a result of conducting numerical experiments a favorable effect is revealed for titanium carbide thickness on transformation of the stressed state of a surface layer of Si3N4–TiC–Y2O3-ceramic. It is established that an increase in TiC-coating thickness leads to stable reduction in stresses σ11, σ22, σ12, and σi in a surface layer of the main structural elements.

Experimental studies have established that pulsed laser radiation significantly changes the condition of the surface of high-density ceramics. The processing regimes that are currently used have a substantial effect on the geometric parameters of each track that is formed and on the morphology of the new surface.

The main stressed state features are established at a boundary between layers of a two-layer TiC/TiN coating applied to nitride ceramic under action of concentrated and distributed forces. The effect of ceramic basic structural element on stresses formed in TiC/TiN-coating underlayers in contact under action of force loads is determined.
