Method of Investigation of the Stress-Strain State of Surface Layer of Machine Elements from a Sintered Nonuniform Material

V. V. Kuzin; Stanislav Grigoriev

A microstructural model of surface layer of machine elements from a nonuniform material is developed. With using of this model a calculation scheme that includes basic structural elements is created. Each element is characterized by the following properties: density, elastic modulus, thermal conductivity, linear expansion coefficient and Poissons ratio. A mathematical model of surface layer of machine elements from a sintered nonuniform material is formulated on the basis of solution of two-dimensional heat-conduction and elasticity problems by the finite-element method. The created algorithms for solution of these problems are used for formation of an automated system for thermal strength calculations. This system is surrounded with some original techniques which provide the investigation of the stress-strain state of surface layer of machine elements from a sintered nonuniform material.

Automated thermal-strength calculations of ceramic cutting plates

S. N. Grigor’ev; V. I. Myachenkov; V. V. Kuzin

An automated system for thermal-strength calculations of ceramic cutting plates is proposed. This system is based on microstructural and mathematical models and provides information regarding the thermal state and stress-strain state of cutting plates under the action of external loads. The structural nonuniformity of the ceramic is taken into account.

Stress-strain state of a coated nitride-ceramic tool

S. N. Grigor’ev; V. V. Kuzin; M. A. Volosova

The influence of coatings on the stress-strain state of nitride-ceramic cutting plates is considered. The thermal and stress state of such plates may be regulated by adjusting the coating properties.

Surface Defects Formation in Grinding of Silicon Nitride Ceramics

V. V. Kuzin; Sergey N. Grigoriev; Sergey Fedorov; Mike Fedorov

The effect of surface defects formation in grinding on two compositions of silicon nitride have been studied experimentally. The influence of composition of nitride ceramics, diamond wheels characteristics and grinding regimes on the grinding forces, final strength of samples and the degree of structure imperfection of their surfaces after grinding has been understood as a result of undertaken series of grinding tests.

Influence of thermal loads on the stress-strain state of aluminum-oxide ceramic cutting plates

S. N. Grigor’ev; V. V. Kuzin; D. Burton; Andre Batako

The influence of thermal loads on the stress-strain state of oxide-ceramic cutting plates is investigated; in the analysis, the nonlinear properties of aluminum oxide and gray iron are taken into account. Requirements are formulated on the properties of aluminum-oxide cutting plates.

Effect of a TiC Coating on the Stress-Strain State of a Plate of a High-Density Nitride Ceramic Under Nonsteady Thermoelastic Conditions

V. V. Kuzin; S. N. Grigor’ev; M. A. Volosova

An original method is presented to obtain relations which describe how the thickness and thermal conductivity of a TiC coating are related to the temperatures, displacements, and stresses in a nitride ceramic plate under nonsteady thermoelastic conditions. It is shown that the stress-strain state of parts made of high-density ceramics can be controlled under such conditions by the application of coatings.

Wear of tools from nitride ceramics when machining nickel-based alloys

V. V. Kuzin; M. A. Volosova; M. Yu. Fedorov

The experimental results have demonstrated that tools made from nitride ceramics have high efficiency in the high-speed machining of nickel-based AP741NP alloy. The wear of these tools proved to depend on the cutting modes, as well as the properties and structure of ceramics. Features of the wear of cutting tools from nitride ceramics are determined when machining nickel-based AP741NP alloy.

Effect of Titanium Nitride Coating on Stress Structural Inhomogeneity in Oxide-Carbide Ceramic. Part 4. Action of Heat Flow

M. A. Volosova; S. N. Grigor’ev; V. V. Kuzin

The effect of a titanium nitride coating on stress structural inhomogeneity in oxide-carbide ceramic under action of heat flow is studied. A considerable effect of a coating on properties determining stress structural inhomogeneity within ceramic is revealed. A requirement is noted for considering stress structural inhomogeneity in designing objects from oxide-carbide ceramic with a coating.
