Maman Abdurohman; Anton Herutomo; Vera Suryani; Asma Elmangoush; Thomas Magedanz

Mobile tracking system is used to monitor vehicles position and in special cases there are much useful information can be monitored such as speed, cabin temperature and number of passenger. This monitoring process is done using vehicles position data from satellite through GPS device, and sending the data to a server through GSM modem. This paper proposes new approach on managing all vehicle data using Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communication form which Open Machine Type Communication (OpenMTC) as communication platform for aggregating and processing location data. As a result, the testing showed high accuracy level in transmitting the vehicles position and it can be showed in many devices.

Information and Communication Technologies are playing major roles in creating Smart environments, and enhancing services in various sectors. The Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communication paradigm enables devices used in all live aspects to communicate and share information with limited human intervention. In this paper we present an M2M telemedicine service to monitor Electrocardiagram (ECG) signal remotely. ECG is a physiological signal produced by electrical activity of heart; it can be recorded using electrocardiograph device and used to detect many heart problems, such as heart attacks. Data generated by ECGs device are sent over M2M platform, that is OpenMTC for further processing in devices that are on the client side.

Mobile Tracking System Based on Event Driven Method

Maman Abdurohman; Arif Sasongko; Ricky Rawung

Monitoring system can be performed both offline and online, and this research carries out the design of long-distance monitoring system for moving system. GPS module is used as system input containing position information of monitored system. This information is processed by the system and is sent by GSM module. On the receiver side, the data are compiled for monitoring system movement. The system is implemented using µC Cortex-M4 by applying Event Driven method. This method is applied for saving resource. The result shows good accuracy level which is measured based on monitoring with system position in the field

Transaction Level Modeling for Early Verification on Embedded System Design

Maman Abdurohman; Kuspriyanto Kuspriyanto; Sarwono Sutikno; Arif Sasongko

Time-to-market pressure and productivity gap are two factors that encourage the Electronic Design Automation (EDA) industry and researcher of embedded system to enhanche embedded system design method. Current embedded system design approach, Register Transfer Level, is not sufficient to fulfill the embedded system design necessity. It needs a new design method above RTL, higher abstraction layer. Electronic System Level is general term that used to name system above RTL. ESL definition so far is a system above RTL including hardware and software. In this paper we designed a Transaction Level Modeling for early verification on embedded system design. This modeling is used to know functionality fulfillment at early stage. We specify four kind model for early verification purpose.

M2M Middleware Based on OpenMTC Platform for Enabling Smart Cities Solution

Maman Abdurohman; Arif Sasongko; Anton Herutomo

M2M middleware is needed to avoid silo systems on smart city solutions. The middleware serves as an enabler for the basic process of communication between machines based on the machine type communication. This paper proposes OpenMTC platform as M2M middleware solutions for smart cities. OpenMTC is a platform that communicate data between machine-server-machine without human intervention. Some solutions are implemented on OpenMTC platform such as mobile tracking, early warning of forest fires and water pollutant monitoring systems. The result shows that OpenMTC, empirically, has capability as reliable M2M-Middleware for some smart cities applications.

Selective encryption of video MPEG use RSA algorithm

Prati Hutari Gani; Maman Abdurohman

Selective encryption is a technique to encrypt a portion of the video data. In this case, it is encrypted by RSA algorithm. It is one of the public - key cryptosystem that is used to provide privacy and authentication of digital data. Security of this algorithm lies in the difficulty of factoring very large modulus n. In this project, the video format are MPEG - 1 and MPEG - 2, because they have almost the same bit stream structure, so the processing by using an algorithm. In this final project will be built a software using the Java platform. Testing on this project to encrypt and decrypt video formats, MPEG-1 and MPEG-2, so the security of video can be realized by using the method of selective encryption. Other parameters are the key length in the RSA algorithm which has been adapted and Brute Force Attacks.

Improvement Text Compression Performance Using Combination of Burrows Wheeler Transform, Move to Front, and Huffman Coding Methods

Mohammada Aprilianto; Maman Abdurohman

Text is a media that is often used to convey information in both wired and wireless-based network. One limitation of the wireless system is the network bandwidth. In this study we implemented a text compression application with lossless compression technique using combination of Burrows wheeler transform, move to front, and Huffman coding methods. With the addition of the compression of the text, it is expected to save network resources. This application provides information about compression ratio. From the testing process, it concludes that text compression with only Huffman coding method will be efficient when the number of text characters are above 400 characters, meanwhile text compression with burrows wheeler transform, move to front, and Huffman coding methods will be efficient when the number of text characters are above 531 characters. Combination of these methods are more efficient than just Huffman coding when the number of text characters are above 979 characters. The more characters that are compressed and the more patterns of the same symbol, the better the compression ratio.

Effeciency enhancement in embedded system design

Maman Abdurohman; Kuspriyanto; Sarwono Sutikno; Arif Sasongko

One of early processes in an embedded system designing is system modeling. A modeling is performed to get preliminary figure of a product before it could be implemented in form of a prototype. Generally speaking, an embed system designing processes comprise five stages: product specifications, HW/SW separation. detailed HW/SW designing, integration and testing. The final output is in form of detailed RTL. After the RTL has been completed, the improvement processes could be started. This paper proposes a new designing process by performing UML-based preliminary designing and TLM preliminary process before detailed HW/SW designing. The correction processes would be performed only under the TML Model. It is expected that by this method we could perform the overall designing processes faster than the conventional method. We use SystemC as a modeling Language.
