Estudo da Viabilidade de Utilização de uma Máquina de Fluxo Transversal Linear como parte da Estrutura do Conversor de Energia das Ondas Point Absorber

This is a feasibility study for the generation of wave energy by means of a transverse flux machine connected to a device for converting wave energy known as Point Absorber. The article contains literature review on the topic and analysis of data obtained by means of a prototype built in the laboratory. Based on the results, the study concludes that this use is feasible.

Water reuse and its importance for firefighting training of offshore workers

Consumption of freshwater has grown dramatically worldwide due to the increase of population in urban areas, irrigation of agri-business and the use of water in industrial processes, resulting in sanitary and industrial effluents. This brings urgent need to save, reduce, recycle, reuse, as well as develop processes that do not go against society, or are based on precautionary principles, considering the possibility of contamination of a chemical and microbiological elements present in effluents. This study evaluated a critical process for reuse in general and, more specifically, in Fire Fighting Training Centers, where training consumes considered volume of water as the main extinguishing agent. The simple and creative technologies developed for the study prove the success of water reuse to fight waste.

Índice de Qualidade da Água (IQA) da Lagoa do Taí, São João da Barra, RJ

The Lagoa do Tai, located next to the Industrial Logistic Complex of Porto do Acu, in northern Rio de Janeiro, which makes it subject to impacts from this enterprise. Thus, this research aimed at the evaluation of the water quality of the Lagoa do Tai through the verification of its WQI in temporal and special scale. The methodological procedures included: bibliographic review about the subject; determination of the WQI and data systematization. The WQI of the Lagoa do Tai varied from reasonable to good. It was observed that the smallest values of the WQI occurred in the dry season and the highest ones in the rainy season.
