The study proved that the selected area is used for artisan fishing and the restriction of this location resulted in potential conflict between the port implementation and fishing activities. Thus, the study identified the need for participatory planning in order to build a well structured action plan, such as a Port Environmental Agenda, and to promote sustainability of the port business along with minimization of conflicts.

The experiment was carried out with sheep during the finishing phase in a partial confinement system to evaluate the following physiological parameters: rectal temperature (RT), respiratory rate (RR), heart rate (HR), productive performance and carcass characteristics. Fourteen uncastrated sheep with an average initial age of 90 days belonging to two genetic groups were used. There were seven Santa Ines animals, whose average initial live weight (ILW) was 23.65 kg, and seven F1 Dorper × St. Ines animals, with an ILW of 20.02 kg. The treatments were the two genetic groups and two times for the collection of the physiological parameters, at 09.00 h and 15.00 h. Evaluation took place once a week, in a shared stall, always following a 20-min grazing activity. The animals had daily access to a Megathyrsus maximus(Jacquin) pasture, cultivar Masai, from 08.00 h to 17.00 h and their feed was placed in a trough, at a forage:concentrate ratio of 51:49 in the total dry matter. The concentrate consisted of 900 g/kg of ground corn and 100 g/kg of soybean meal, and the roughage supplied was alfalfa hay. There was no interaction between treatments for the studied variables. The physiological parameters were affected only by the time of day. The variables RR and RT were higher at 15.00 h, while the highest HR values were observed at 09.00 h. Neither of the two genetic groups differed for performance and carcass characteristics. Hair sheep belonging to close genetic groups show no differences in performance, carcass characteristics and physiological responses when subjected to heat stress.

Due to the demand for skilled labor, professionals have been attracted to the logistic port complex of Acu, EBX Group, increasing the population of Sao Joao da Barra, and resulting in greater use of water resources. This has generated more waste that can endanger groundwater and water quality. The aim of this study was to perform a diagnosis of the quality of the water consumed in Cazumba and Sabonete, both in the 5th district of Sao Joao da Barra, RJ. Using data collected in the survey, an environmental education project was developed. This problem, common to local students, school and community, can be used as a starting point for a discussion on environment and health. By showing students analytical data on water consumed by them at school or home, the information can be used to discuss the issue within the public health sphere, as well as demand better water quality from public agencies.

89.098,00 financed split in 38 subprojects. In general, it was observed that the community is satisfied with the financial incentive given by the program. The sense of environmental gain is high enough, as well as the anxiety of the people involved that everyone accesses it for the number of families is high. The biggest problem faced nowadays is the beneficiaries that are current out of stipulated deadline for the accountability and subprojects implementing.

The northwestern region of Rio de Janeiro has an important local productive arrangement for processing ornamental and cladding rocks. This activity is responsible for much of the local income, employing a large number of people. The main producer in the region is the municipality of Santo Antonio de Padua - RJ, with 154 companies (78 quarries and 76 sawmills). The extensive rock extraction and processing activity has caused environmental problems in the region, since during the production stages much is lost due to rudimentary techniques and failing in the treatment of effluents, which ends up generating impacts on the Pomba River, where they are launched. The objective of this investigation was to make a diagnosis of the use of water in the production process, and then evaluate the different alternatives for optimum consumption and treatment of effluents in order to minimize environmental damages. Some exploratory case studies, literature review, interviews with owners, employees, professionals related to the rock sector, and technical visits to companies in the region were carried out. The results point to a lack of preparation and technical knowledge of the entrepreneurs and employees regarding the use of new technologies to help with environmental issues, with regard to the treatment and consumption of water, especially for small companies.

e Baixada Campista, located in the Northern region of the Rio de Janeiro State, was formed in a wide alluvial ood plain, along the banks of the Paraiba do Sul River. In colonial Brazil, this region was considered to have fertile soil and abundant water resources necessary for their economic development. In the 19th century, the region gained ground in some economic activities such as sugar production, and for being the rst city in Latin America to have electric energy. It is currently known for its oil production and industrial port complex. ese facts show the importance of the water resources, especially those of the Paraiba do Sul River, for the economic development of the Northern region of the State of Rio de Janeiro. However, the region has experienced water crises due to the environmental agility of the Paraiba do Sul River Basin caused by natural phenomena or human actions. In this article, we discuss conservation of the drainage system and the negative environmental impacts caused by the transposition of waters of the Paraiba do Sul River in the Baixada Campista.
