Abstract Introduction: The presence of background HCV infection cannot be overestimated in view of the prevalence of chronic hepatitis C and the risk of adverse outcomes of this disease. Purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of the combined use of antiviral therapy (Roferon + Vero-Ribavirin) and resort factors in patients with chronic hepatitis C in the phase of replication. Material and methods: We observed 48 patients with chronic hepatitis C; the minimum level of activity of the process defined the phase of replication. Markers of HCV infection were determined by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) (a-HCV and HCV-Ig M). HCV RNA was determined twice by the polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Genotyping of hepatitis C virus was performed. Biochemical blood analysis and the study of HCV infection markers were carried out four times. Results of therapy were assessed immediately after the end of the resort (spa) treatment, then at 3, 6 and 12 months after starting treatment. At 12 months after starting treatment, all the observed patients had persistent clinical and biochemical remission. Elimination of the virus from the blood was noted in 56% of the control group and 74% of patients in the study group. Conclusions: For patients with moderately active HCV, the replication phase was characterized by asthenic-vegetative syndrome (100% of patients) with severe depression (22.92%), pain (77.08%) and dyspeptic syndrome (33.33%), moderate hypertransferaseemia (100%), slightly pronounced cholestasis (33% of patients), and signs of mesenchymal- inflammatory response.

The work is to determine the size of the selected somatic indicators and some morphological features of fulltime students of physical education at Kazimierz Wielki University of Bydgoszcz in the years 2006-2012. All results are presented in tables and some of them as graphics. To characterize the type of somatic structure, the following indicators were calculated for men and women: BMI, WHR, AMC and Rohrer index. Also body fat (BF) and fat-free mass (FFM) were determined. It is worth noting that the surveyed students, both men and women, in addition to physical activity resulting from their studies (physical education), in many cases practise sport at the competitive or recreational level. This implies the desired body structure characterized by low fat, large musculature and sufficient height and could make a somatic homogeneity of the studied group

DiGeorge syndrome (DGS) which is also known as velocardiofacial syndrome is caused by a submicroscopic chromosome deletion of band 22q11. It is associated with a disturbed development of the pharyngeal arches. In this report we describe two unrelated male children with clinical features consistent with 22q11.2 microdeletion syndrome characterized by cardiac defect, recurrent respiratory infections and developmental deficiency. Definitive diagnosis is made by Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization analysis (FISH). Children underwent surgical correction of congenital heart defects. During surgery thymic aplasia was confirmed in both children, postoperative course proceeded without major complications. Our report suggests that the criteria in searching for microdeletion 22q11.2 should be expanded and applied in patients with conotruncal and non-conotruncal congenital heart defects and at least one typical feature of this syndrome.

AimThis study is a pathomorphological investigation the influence of factors that modulate the intensity of post-traumatic fibrosis of the rat uterus and peritoneal adhesions formation process, as well as a comparative evaluation of experimental models of formation of post-traumatic adhesions, based on the intraperitoneal injection of an aqueous suspension of barium sulfate or talc. Study subjects: female outbred albino rats weighting 200–250 g.MethodsPeritoneal adhesions were induced by a single intraperitoneal injection of an aqueous suspension of barium sulfate or talc in the pelvic area. Animals were divided into four groups: group 1 received only talc; group 2, 7-day daily administration of vitamin D; group 3 received only barium sulfate; and group 4 were administered barium sulfate contained in a hyper-sodium diet for 7 days.ResultsIntraperitoneal injection of rats with an aqueous suspension of barium sulfate, as compared with talc, resulted in a more intense manifestation of adhesions and stimulation of neoangiogenesis in the uterus. Prolonged intraperitoneal administrations of vitamin D to rats subjected to single exposure of talc, accompanied by activation of neoangiogenesis, had increased structural damage to tissues of the uterus and experienced increased intensity of the adhesion process. Prolonged exposure to salinized rats exposed to a single effect of barium sulfate, caused gross structural damage to the tissues of the uterus and induced pathological changes in the reparative processes in the background of significant amplification of post-traumatic adhesions.
