As relações entre a satisfação conjugal e as habilidades sociais percebidas no cônjuge

This study investigated the association between the social skills perceived by the spouse and marital satisfaction. Fifty couples (n=100), aged from 29 to 69 and with relationship lasting from seven to 38 years, were asked to fill in the Marital Satisfaction Scale, the Marital Social Skills Inventory and the Marital Empathy Questionnaire. Multiple regression analysis revealed that spouses empathy was strongly correlated with marital satisfaction, followed by the expression of feelings and defense of own rights. The number of offspring was inversely correlated with satisfaction, and women were perceived by their partners as more empathic. The presence of social skills, particularly empathy, seems to be facilitators of marital satisfaction. Interventions directed to the development of social skills may be useful in the treatment of distressed couples.

A Psicologia Social contemporânea: principais tendências e perspectivas nacionais e internacionais

This paper revises the current state of the art of Social Psychology in Brazil and abroad. For such, it initially reviews the main trends that influenced the evolution of North American Social Psychology, and presents the most relevant current characteristics of the discipline in North America, Europe and Latin America. Then, an analysis of the recent Brazilian publications in Social Psychology is offered. In conclusion, it discusses the future challenges of Brazilian scientific production in the area of Social Psychology, especially with respect to its impact on the international academic scenario.

Dimensões e indicadores da qualidade de vida e do bem-estar no trabalho

Investigou-se o poder preditivo de dimensoes da qualidade de vida e bem-estar no trabalho sobre seus indicadores. 284 empregados do setor eletrico estatal responderam a escalas de auto-relato. A s oportunidades de uso e desenvolvimento das proprias competencias predisseram a satisfacao no trabalho, os afetos positivos dirigidos ao trabalho e o comprometimento organizacional afetivo; o relacionamento e a comunicacao entre supervisores e empregados predisseram a satisfacao no trabalho e os afetos positivos dirigidos ao trabalho; os salarios e beneficios predisseram os afetos positivos dirigidos ao trabalho e o comprometimento organizacional afetivo; as condicoes fisicas e de seguranca do ambiente de trabalho predisseram a satisfacao no trabalho. Teorias sobre qualidade de vida e bem-estar no trabalho sao usadas na interpretacao dos resultados.

Validez convergente del Inventario de Empatía (IE)

The study aimed at investigating the convergent validity of the Empathy Inventory. The sample was composed by 230 adult individuals from both sexes who answered to the Empathy Inventory (EI) and to the Multidimensional Scale of Interpersonal Reactivity (MSIR). Strong or moderate positive and significant correlations were obtained between the EIs cognitive factors (Perspective Taking and Interpersonal Flexibility) and the MSIRs cognitive factor. Therefore, the EIs affective dimensions (Altruism and Affective Sensibility) showed low positive significant correlations or no correlations with the MSIRs affective factors. These findings provide initial evidences about the convergent validity of EI and refine its psychometric qualities as a measure of assessment of empathic skills.O estudo teve como objetivo investigar a validade convergente do Inventario de Empatia. A amostra foi composta por 230 individuos adultos, de ambos os sexos, que responderam ao Inventario de Empatia (IE) e a Escala Multidimensional de Reatividade Interpessoal (EMRI). Correlacoes positivas e significativas fortes ou moderadas foram obtidas entre os fatores cognitivos do IE (Tomada de Perspectiva e Flexibilidade Interpessoal) e o fator cognitivo da EMRI. No entanto, os fatores afetivos do IE (Altruismo e Sensibilidade Afetiva) apresentaram corelacoes positivas e significativas, porem baixas, ou correlacoes nao-significativas, com os fatores afetivos da Escala EMRI. Os achados fornecem, portanto, evidencias iniciais acerca da validade convergente dos fatores cognitivos do IE e aprimoram suas qualidades psicometricas no que diz respeito a avaliacao da habilidade empatica.
