Event Monitoring Software Application for Production Planning Systems

Andrés Boza; Beatriz Cortes; María del Mar Eva Alemany; Eduardo Vicens

In a company, unexpected events may affect the planning production system. These events should be identified and analysed with the aim of evaluate their impact and make (or not) decision about the on-going production plan. This paper submits an event monitoring software application based in expert systems for planning production systems (1) to identify and describe events that generate incidences in the system (2) to define alert criteria and (3) to check periodically the production planning system to identify possible incidences.

A Collaborative Model to Improve Farmers’ Skill Level by Investments in an Uncertain Context

Ana Esteso; María del Mar Eva Alemany; Angel Ortiz; Cecile Guyon

Some small farms are forced to waste a part of their harvests for not reaching the quality standards fixed by consumers. Meanwhile, modern retailers (MR) are interested in selling more quality products to increase their profits. MR could invest in a collaboration program so the small farmers could have access to better technologies and formation to increase the proportion of quality products. Unfortunately, the demand, the quantity of harvest, the proportion of harvest being of quality, and its increase with each investment are uncertain parameters. A fuzzy model considering these uncertainties is proposed to determine the investments that MR should made to maximize the profits of the supply chain in a collaboration context. A method to transform the fuzzy model into an equivalent crisp model and an interactive resolution method are applied.

The Methodology of Modeling the Decision-Making Process for Planning the Logistics Supply Chain

David Pérez; María del Mar Eva Alemany; Marian Molasy

In this work it is proposed a Methodology to model the Supply Chain (SC) Collaborative Planning (CP) Process, and particularly its Decisional view. This Methodology is based on a Framework whose main contributions are the following, (1) the consideration of not only the Decision View, the most important one due to the Process type, but also three additional Views which are the Physical, Organisation and Information ones, closely related and complementing the Decision View; and (2) the joint consideration of two interdependence types, the Temporal (among Decision Centers belonging to different Decision Levels) and Spatial (among Decision Centers belonging to the same Decision Level) to support the distributed Decision-Making process in SC where several Decision Centers interact among them in a collaborative manner.

Characterizing Productive Processes with Lack of Homogeneity in the Product and Its Impact on the Master Planning and Order Promising

María del Mar Eva Alemany; Faustino Alarcón; Llanos Cuenca; Angel Ortiz

Manufacturing environments with Lack of Homogeneity in the Product (LHP) are characterized by the fact that units of the same product can present differences in some attributes relevant to customers. This aspect becomes a problem when customer needs to be served with homogeneous units of one same product. Though LHP is present in many sectors, particular characteristics introduced by LHP in transformation activities, products and orders have not been previously studied in a systematic approach. This paper provides a conceptual framework for characterizing LHP manufacturing processes and analyzes the LHP impact on the master planning and the order promising, stressing the new aspects introduced by LHP as compared with traditional environments.

Making Product-Service Systems in Collaborative Networks: Implications in Business Processes

Faustino Alarcón; María del Mar Eva Alemany; Angel Ortiz

An interesting possibility for the differentiation of the industrial activity of enterprises is to evolve from the production of goods to the provision of systemic solutions consisting of product-service systems (PSS). This change can mean the creation of a collaborative network and reveals significant implications at strategic and operational levels. In this context, and from an operational perspective, a conceptual framework has been developed to facilitate the identification, classification and study of the implications in business processes of using the PSS concept. The conceptual framework proposed allows identifying, classifying and determining implications in business processes when a PPS is going to be marketed commercially in a collaborative environment.
