A review of Dynamic Data Envelopment Analysis: state of the art and applications

This article reports the evolution of the literature on Dynamic Data Envelopment Analysis (DDEA) models from 1996 to 2016. Systematic searches in the databases Scopus and Web of Science were performed to outline the state of the art. The results enabled the establishment of DDEA studies as the scope of this article, analyzing the transition elements to represent temporal interdependence. The categorization of these studies enabled the mapping of the evolution of the DDEA literature and identification of the relationships between models. The three most widely adopted studies to conduct DDEA research were classified as structuring models. Mapping elucidated the literature behavior through three phases and showed an increase in publications with applications in recent years. The analysis of applications indicated that most studies address evaluations in the agriculture and farming, banking and energy sectors and consider the facilities as transition elements between analysis periods.

EVALUATION OF THE POTENTIAL USE OF BALANCED SCORECARD IN THE SMALL AND MEDIUM COMPANIES

Some studies exhibit the existence of many peculiarities in small organizations and deficiencies in performance assessment. Most small and medium-sized companies makes use of traditional focused only on financial optic systems. Alternatively, there are strategic tools in compliance with the medium and long term. Therefore, this study aims to identify the potential of using Balanced Scorecard in SMEs. This research was conducted between the months of January 2013 through June 2013, using a structured questionnaire in 25 companies of Natal. Among the key findings was the potential for the use of the Balanced Scorecard by most of the participating companies. ANALYSIS OF HEALTHCARE COST ASSISTANCE OF A BRAZILIAN INSURANCE COMPANY

The relevance of rising healthcare costs is a main topic in complementary health companies in Brazil. In 2011, these expenses consumed more than 80% of the monthly health insurance in Brazil. Considering the administrative costs, it is observed that the companies operating in this market work, on average, at the threshold between profit and loss. This paper presents results after an investigation of the welfare costs of a health plan company in Brazil. It was based on the KDD process and explorative Data Mining. A diversity of results is presented, such as data summarization, providing compact descriptions of the data, revealing common features and intrinsic observations. Among the key findings was observed that a small portion of the population is responsible for the most demanding of resources devoted to health care.
