Abstract Nowadays the systems have often a complex structure and it is relatively difficult to ensure their reliability. Therefore it is important to predict reliability of systems already at design phase. This way is suitable for the prevention of the frequently failures. Prevention of frequently failures means a higher lifetime and cost savings for producer. This paper deals with a modern approach of quantitative reliability analysis – using the Monte Carlo statistical reliability analysis and its comparison with the conventional approaches. The Monte Carlo method is explained at a fundamental level with emphasis on its application in reliability analysis of systems with a complex structure.

The aim of this work was to develop a methodology for measuring and evaluation of dynamic behavior of the driver in various environments, to determine the differences between the behavior of unwearied and fatigued driver and to propose a development of a mechanism for detection of dangerous situations. Sets of test drives with unwearied drivers were performed on a highway, in the tunnel and at the simulator, followed by statistical analysis. The most suitable characteristics were determined and used for comparison with data obtained from test drives performed within 24 Hours. Allan deviation and Poincare distance are the best parameters for the determination of drivers behavior, because these parameters are calculated from neighboring consecutive samples and carry immediate information about changes of drivers performance. In the experiments with fatigue-influenced driver, the case of vehicle going to get out of the traffic line was well detectable.

Abstract The aim of the paper is to present the role of the human element in regularly used man-machine systems (MMS). From the technical point of view, it is possible to denote the human being and the machine as two components of one system. The decision priority problem within the MMS has recently been accentuated, especially in relation to high-risk systems, where any failure of the human factor may have serious consequences.
