The paper discusses the insertion of critical social psychology in the field of solidary economy, as a laboral setting able to constitute singularized ways of working. For that, it briefly reviews the field of associative and cooperative labor, relating it with the issues of subjectivity and contemporaneity. It questions the emancipatory references of critical social sciences, specially psychology, raising the need of the cartography of new maps to outline the labyrinth of contemporaneity, with its ambiguities and possibilities, analyzing an empirical register taken by the field of cooperative system based on solidarity. Finally, it raises the need of a progressist agenda for psychology, when inserted in this specific reality of the labor world.

In this paper, the authors bring to the foreground the centrality of communication as an object of Social Psychology. They focus on the analysis of advertisement’s communication practices, departing from the exposure of some of their models of signification. They first explain the model for subliminal advertisement followed by the analysis of the model for advertisements based on myth (connotation), underlying the specificity of publicity. In addition, the authors discuss their modus operandi and analyse communication practices approaching the dimension of ethics, which had been placed in the background by the scientific project of modernity. They consider ethics in relation to the concept of consciousness. The authors suggest that a critical analysis of communication through the perspective of Social Psychology should include both the dimension of ethics and its relation to consciousness. Key words: Social Psychology, Communication, Semiotics, Advertisement, Ethics.

This article results from a dissertation onthe self-anagement practices of solidarity-based economic enterprises submitted to the Graduate Program in Social Sciences of Universidade do Vale do Rio dos Sinos, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. It describes two lines of socio-historical analysis: the first one refers to the development of the views and practices of labor and their consequences on the structure of Brazilian society; the second one discusses the development of social movements, particularly in Brazilian society, from the 1950s onwards. Finally, the article describes how these two lines converge and, in the mid-1990s, give rise to a social dynamics that stimulates the emergence of new practices in the generation of employment and income. It shows that the promotion of such practices in times of global economic crisis is relevant and crucial. In Brazil Solidarity Economy emerges as an alternative social movement that, through its practices, recovers values such as cooperation, solidarity and valuing of workers. Key words: labor, social movements, solidarity economy.

The article examines some of the prerequisites for the emergence of associative entrepreneurial ways and some factors that have focused on their effectiveness in terms of solidarity and efficiency. The field research was conducted through visits to cooperative ventures in rural and urban areas: three from the segment of collection and sorting of recyclable waste, three rural and two microenterprises, besides visits to organizations that provide support of microentrepreneurship. It is concluded that the improvement of living conditions of the entrepreneurs involved and the activation of organizational, relational and troubleshooting capabilities are important elements. In the context researched, the organization in groups has been a factor that enables entrepreneurs to cease being easy prey for a system of uneven and predatory economic growth, to transform themselves into leading actors of a more caring and sustainable way of producing and living, swimming against the tide of globalized capitalism.
