Android4Auto: A proposal for integration of Android in vehicle infotainment systems

Branimir Kovacevic; Marko Kovacevic; Tomislav Maruna; Davor Rapic

This paper presents a proposal for integration of Android into vehicle infotainment systems. The proposed system offers infotainment functionality, while enabling users to use the device as a regular Android device. The proposal includes a specification of a Java API that should be used to access in-vehicle related content from Android applications.

One solution of implementation and display of electronic program guide on the Android-based digital TV signal receiver

Branimir Pavlovic; Marko Kovacevic; Marko Zivanovic; Branimir Kovacevic; Nemanja Zigic

This paper describes one implementation of information management for the Electronic Program Guide (hereinafter EPG) for Android-based DTV receivers. EPG data is gathered from EIT (Event Information Table) tables that are located in the DTV (Digital Television) transport stream. Propagation of such data to the Android application and display of that data in Graphical User Interface (GUI) is presented in this paper. For the collection and processing of DTV data, a special layer in DTV software stack was used - the DTV software for television sets (DTV Middleware).

Automatic key performance indicator measurements of television system using black box testing solution

Branimir Kovacevic; Marko Kovacevic; Vukota Pekovic; Zivko Radonjic

This paper presents an approach to automated key performance indicator measurements of television system. The proposed system decreases the possibility of error which may occur when manually measuring the response to user request. The proposed system uses a novel block-based algorithm for image similarity assessment and measures the time needed for television system to process and execute commands sent from different devices.

Scenario-based set-top box testing

Branimir Kovacevic; Marko Kovacevic; Dejan Stefanovic; Vukota Pekovic

This paper presents different test scenarios that are often used when creating a set-top box testing solution based on automatic testing system. The proposed scenarios decrease the development time needed for generating different types of test cases. The proposed scenarios use market proven black box testing solution.

One implementation of multimedia content presentation for the Android-based set-top box

Veljko Ilkic; Marko Kovacevic; Milos Milanovic; Branimir Kovacevic; Petar Jovanovic

This paper shows one solution for collection, browsing and reproduction of multimedia content for the Android-based STB (set-top box). This solution offers unique way of displaying different multimedia content. This is achieved by making an abstraction layer which unifies following multimedia content: television channels, Android applications and widgets, DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) servers, PVR (Personal video recorder) files, images, video and audio files. All multimedia content is treated the same way, and presented with the unique graphical interface.

One solution of Android service for communication with control unit in vehicle infotainment device

Nikola Puaca; Marko Kovacevic; Branimir Kovacevic; Tomislav Maruna

This paper presents solution of Android service for collecting data from simulator of car events or ECU through OBD II system. This data can be cars current speed, number of revolutions per minute, fuel level, engine errors etc. Data are fetched by Android service and via API delivered to the clients applications, that can display fetched data through UI. By comparing the solution with already existing solutions, enhancement in parameters fetching speed is evident.

One solution of 3D user interface for data display on a vehicle control panel

Violeta Cikos; Marko Kovacevic; Branimir Kovacevic; Gordana Velikic

This paper describes Graphical User Interface application for vehicle control panel. The application has three dimensional approach to graphics, and uses Android operative system. The application provides better overview of essential information for a driver. The appearance and content of displayed information can be customized with high focus on safety.

Visualization of DTV related data on Android Platform

Marko Kovacevic; Branimir Kovacevic; Milos Milanovic; Tomislav Maruna

This paper presents a solution for visualization of DTV related data on devices with Android OS. The main goal was to display DTV related data on Android graphical layer using native C/C++ code. We have visualized three distinctive DTV related data types: subtitles, multimedia (MHEG) and teletext information, all collected by the DTV middleware software layer. The DTV middleware is responsible for providing all of the DTV related features and is written in C/C++ native code. The Android DTV application communicates with DTV middleware through DTV Java service. The DTV Java service and the DTV middleware are connected through the JNI layer, which converts the DTV related data from C/C++ structures to Java objects and vice versa. All rendering is done in C/C++ native code which provides sufficient speed of program execution and accomplishes high-performance demands requested by our project.

One solution of event data recorder in car on Android operating system

Goran Vukov; Marko Kovacevic; Branimir Kovacevic; Tomislav Maruna

In this paper Android service has been made for reading and storing vehicle information data. Vehicle information data presents information about vehicle trouble codes, speed etc. Test application has been made for gathering and storing data with various criteria. Project is based on OBD II system, SQLite library and Android operating system. During making of project OBD II simulator has been used to simulate car behaviour.
