Dissolution of copper metal in a dimethyl sulphoxide–carbon tetrachloride mixture

Copper metal is found to dissolve in a dimethyl sulphoxide–carbon tetrachloride mixture under extremely mild conditions with the formation of copper(II) chloride bis(dimethyl sulphoxide), CuCl2(DMSO)2.

メチルビニルスルホキシド (MVSO) /酢酸ビニル (VAc) 共重合体の乳化分散能をトリクロロエチレン/水, トルエン/水系について検討した. この乳化安定性は, 共重合体中のMVSO含量により大きく変化し, MVSO含量27mol%共重合体では, 既存の乳化分散剤である部分ケン化ボリピニルアルコール及び代表的な両親媒性ポリマーであるボリビニルピロリドン (PVP) よりも高い乳化安定性を示した. また, MVSOとポリピニルアルコール (PVA) のMichael付加物であるメチルスルフィニルエチル化ポリビニルアルコール (MPVA) の吸湿性は, MVSO含量の増加に伴い著しく増加することが認められた. MVSO含量50mol%のMPVAの25℃, 相対湿度80%における吸湿量は, 既存の非電解質高分子中で最高度に吸湿性を示す, PVPのそれよりも格段に大であり, 約2.7倍にも達し, 140%であった.
