Public Sector and Circular Business Models: From Public Support Towards Implementation Through Design

In the last decade researchers interest in Sustainable Business Models has raised significantly, due to economic , social and environmental problems of the contemporary world. The philosophy and movement of Circular Economy plays an influential role therein, mainly because it provides opportunities for economic growth through environmental friendly solutions. This chapter employs literature review to further the understanding of the role public sector plays in shifting towards Circular Business Models. This work contributes to the debate on sustainable business models in several ways. It outlines the facilitating role of the public sector which aims to support private sector business models through six types of interventions. It also attempts to provide an early conceptualization of public sector circular business model. Building on that, it argues for the significant role of design in pursuing opportunities to change such business models into a more circular ones.

Korzyści wdrażania innowacji organizacyjnych w publicznych instytucjach kultury

Streszczenie Coraz mocniej podkreśla sie potrzebe wdrazania zmian organizacyjnych w publicznych instytucjach kultury. Jednym z instrumentow zwiekszania sprawności zarządzania tymi placowkami są innowacje organizacyjne. W artykule, na podstawie analizy literatury przedmiotu, przedstawiono sposoby defi niowania innowacji organizacyjnych oraz określono korzyści wynikające z ich zastosowania. W koncowej cześci wskazano takze najwazniejsze ograniczenia przeprowadzonych analiz. Slowa kluczowe: innowacje organizacyjne, instytucje kultury, sektor publiczny, rezultaty innowacji Summary The profits of implementing organizational innovations in public cultural institutions Implementation of the organizational changes is one of the most emphasized needs of public cultural institutions. One of the instruments increasing effectiveness of management of such institutions are organizational innovations. In this paper on the basis of the literature analysis the most important defi nitions of organizational innovations were presented, as well as the benefi ts of implementing this type of innovations. In the end some limitations of this research were pointed.
