Two among many objectives that influ¿ence most of TV manufacturer choices are going to become the first in order of priority, they are: 1) utilization of very sophisticated multifunction IC in order to reduce to minimum calibrations, external components and assembling complexity 2) Reduction of total power consumption

This paper describes a new self-adaptive horizontal processor, which can work in a continuous and automatic way over a very wide range of frequencies (10 to 120 KHz) covering almost all the existing standards. The chip is self-adaptive in the sense that it does not require any external adjustment to lock the incoming sync whichever is the frequency and the duty-cycle.

As the circuit complexity of modern TV receivers increases, the advantages of concentrating as many low signal functions as possible into one IC become more and more evident. These are functions which can all be realized using the same technology and they should be separated from the interface circuits which are capable of handling high power.
