Methodical Framework of Flexibility Production Evaluation in Terms of Manufacturing Plant

Michal Balog; Jozef Husár

This article describes the evaluation methodology of flexibility production in real conditions. Individual steps analyse the manufacturing plant, form transport matrixes of shipping time between workplaces with conveyor and carriage. The second part of article evaluates short – term flexibility with the change of batch production quantity and the type of transport. The target of this article is pointing out the possibilities of handling systems optimization which is based on flexibility production.

Application of RFID Technology in Public Transport Company

Michal Balog; Erik Szilágyi; David Marton

Our aim is to deal with the application of RFID technology in real conditions. Increasing interest in Radio Frequency Identification and related numerous applications for increasing automation in information systems has become an area of interest public transportation applications. The reason for the application of RFID technology is tracking entrance/exit of vehicles to or from the parking area. The main expected benefits arising out of the introduction of this system is considered to maximize efficiency in payments to external carriers parking operator for services related to the use of the bus park for a period of time.

Implementation of Material Flow Simulation as a Learning Tool

Jozef Husár; Lucia Knapčíková; Michal Balog

The paper is focused on the possibility of implementation the simulation of the production process into the education process. Recently, emphasis has been placed on digitizing the production process, using Industry 4.0 and, last but not least, optimizing and minimizing production times. The paper is organized as follows into two sections. Section 1 describes the concrete possibilities of implementation the simulation software and Sect. 2 describes the evaluation of results on a concrete example from production process. After defining the same input data for 4 types of rolling bearings (production times, material flow and Gantt chart), the variety of simulation was followed in order to achieve an optimal distribution of production, transport and storage ratio in the 50:30:20 range. Due to the application of the simulation students are taught how to benefit of a thorough analysis of production process, and all the time the students are very close to the real work environment of the production company.

Intelligent Wagon: A New Approach to Monitoring the Wagon’s Technical Conditions

Michal Balog; Daniela Marasová; Lucia Knapčíková; Peter Balog

Information generating on rail freight wagon components that carry a higher risk of damage during operation would create ideal conditions in real time and improve the safety control of their operations. Appropriate application technology can provide a solution for improving the quality of railway wagon operation. The aim of presented paper is to measure, monitor and signal the vehicle during the operation of the vehicle used RFID technology in theoretical and after testing in real conditions of rail freight wagon.

Informatization of Rail Freight Wagon by Implementation of the RFID Technology

Michal Balog; Miroslav Mindas

This paper deals with the informatization of railway freight wagon using elements of IoT for monitoring the technical condition of selected elements of the chassis. The introduction is devoted to the current state of the issue of maintenance of rail freight wagons. The core of the paper is a technical solution for collecting, storing and analyzing data about the technical condition of the chassis with the use of RFID technology. Where are described each joints of technical solutions. Further discusses about the detailed monitoring of an error condition of bearing chamber by using RFID technology. In the conclusion is evaluated the technical solution using elements of the IoT and its possible impact on the safety of rail freight transport.

Traffic Signs in Urban Logistics with the Use of RFID Technology

Michal Balog; Erik Szilágyi; Miroslav Mindas

Increase of the traffic safety is one of the most important issues for most countries. Our goal is to introduce the concept of the traffic sign recognition system based on radio frequency identification, which presupposes a significant increase of the traffic safety. The concept of the solution is a prerequisite for marking traffic signs with RFID transponders, on which is entered information about specific traffic signs. A vehicle equipped with RFID components for reading the transponder can read the traffic signs and offers the opportunity to inform the driver about significance of the specific traffic signs. By using this technology it is possible to minimize human error while driving and with a support system this solution can offer secondary audio-visual and real-time information about the actual situation on the road with the possibility of interference in control of the vehicle.

Utilization of RFID Technology for Monitoring Technical State of Chosen Elements of Cargo Railway Wagon

Michal Balog; Erik Szilágyi; Miroslav Mindas

This article deals about specific application of RFID technology in safety area of railway cargo transport. The goal is utilization of this technology in interaction with most common interferences on cargo railway wagons, which causes not only higher costs of repair of these wagons, but by substantial impact increase also the risk of danger accident. The essence of article is formed by draft of specific RFID tags on chosen elements of chassis of cargo railway wagon.

Introduction of RFID System into Transport and Defining its Model of Return on Investment

Romana Hricová; Michal Balog

The article deals with the introduction of RFID technology to the broad gauge railway transportation. Interest in RFID technology is growing not only in the world but also in Slovakia so article is focused on the proposal on the transport of Fiat, where RFID system would be implemented for shipment of containers that are transported through Combined Transport Terminal Dobrá farther to the Russian market. Model calculation of return shows an interesting profitability and return on investment. In addition, the containers could be observed in real time, which is obviously a great advantage that the implementation of RFID technology provides.

Identification of quality parameters of selected RFID transponders applied in experimental generated conditions

Michal Balog; Miroslav Mindas; Erik Szilágyi

The presented contribution deals with experimental verification of qualitative properties of selected RFID transponders for detecting the temperature of the bearing box of the running gear of cargo railway wagon. First part of the paper describes the identification of physical parameters with measuring their values of the monitored element of the wagon. The second part includes the creation of an experimental model with subsequent evaluation of measurements for purposes of carrying out verification of the applicability of the selected RFID transponders. Conclusion of the publication is evaluated course of the experiment and referred selection RFID transponder, which complies with determining environmental conditions and requirements of the application.

Informatization of Rail Freight Transport by Applying RF Identification Technology

Michal Balog; Pavol Semanco; Zofia Simeková

The purpose of the paper is to outline advantages and obstacles of RFID application in informatization of the rail freight transport. Development and improvement in the field of information technologies and automatization are the pillars towards increase of operations and transaction effectiveness in rail freight transport. This research analyzes and describes range of RFID technology application in rail freight transport. Subsequently, we designed the experiment to test a functionality of the RFID system. In order to ensure the reliable results, we used railroad model that reflects infrastructure of the actual railroad together with station interlocking system, line signaling and level crossing systems managed via unified active control place. For experimentation purpose Taguchi design of experiment was applied to analyze the variation of the essential controllable factors. However, it has to be kept in mind that final effect of the experiment depends on a level of physical resemblance between inputs and reality.
