Trends in Automation - investigation in Network Control Systems and Sensor Networks

Frantisek Zezulka; Zdenek Bradac; Petr Fiedler; Michal Sir

Abstract Paper deals with two significant trends in the automation and control theory of the last decade. The problems are evoked by a lack between control theory and the automation praxis in the case of Networked Control Systems (NCS) and by penetration of wireless communication used in case of Sensor Networks. Authors define serious theoretical problems in Networked Control Systems analyses in the design of digital control such as non-periodical sampling period, variable delays in control feedback, lower dependability of feedback information and some other issues. Network Calculus is proposed as a possible mathematical and description tool. The paper also mentions an ambitious research program of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft to develop new theory of the NCS synthesis. In the second part of the paper the Sensor Networks as the new phenomenon in process values measurement and data acquisition systems are described. It is the opinion of the authors, that sensor networks represent totally other look on the utilization of sensors, than represents classical measurement engineering used in data acquisition systems.

The device and data integration description through ontology

Michal Sir; Zdenek Bradac; Václav Kaczmarczyk; Karel Stibor

Abstract The paper shows the description of ontology which solves several issues. The first section of the paper shows general theory about ontology. We mention the definition of ontology and its use in automation technique. The OWL DL language which is mentioned in the first section is described here for our following work. The second part of the text shows the solution of two issues. The first one is the solution of the industrial automation device description. The article shows possible ways to the creation of the device description through the using of ontology. The second issue is a work with a lot of data which are used by modern devices. The paper shows a part of ontology which is used for data integration.

Problems of SITL: Testing the simulink model by CompactRIO

Ivo Vesely; Michal Sir; D. Zmecnik

This article describes the testing of the Matlab model using NI CompactRIO real-time embedded controllers. If workplace has MATLAB and LabVIEW, the realization of testing becomes much cheaper than buying the Matlab real-time modules. The paper describes how to install all the programs and how to connect these programs each other, so we could easily test and debug MATLAB model using CompactRio and Labview.

Use ontology in the diagnostic system

Michal Sir; Zdenek Bradac; Michal Kupcik; Ivo Vesely

The goal of the paper is self-diagnostic system. The first part of the paper describes type of the maintenance and principle of management. The paper describes diagnostic system and his parts. We show elements of diagnostics system and definition of diagnostics. The second part of the paper shows the ontology as the decision-making model which is used as the part of self-diagnostic device.
