The Diffusion of ICT Across Italian Corporate Universities: An Exploratory Study

Michela Iannotta; Mauro Gatti; Fabrizio D’Ascenzo

Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) are getting very widespread both in formal and informal learning. However the literature suggests that organizational features and culture may influence their current implementation. This study provides a preliminary understanding of the features which may influence the use and the diffusion of ICTs across Italian Corporate Universities. After a comprehensive review of the literature, we report and discuss the results of a survey involving 20 Italian Corporate Universities. Our findings reveal they do not make extensive use of ICTs. Compared to the dominant literature and common practice, these “deviant” behaviours require further investigations.

Manifattura e Organizzazione del Lavoro: Corsi e Ricorsi nell’Evoluzione Industriale

Michela Iannotta; Mauro Gatti

Obiettivi .

The Digital Employee Experience: Discovering Generation Z

Chiara Meret; Silvia Fioravanti; Michela Iannotta; Mauro Gatti

Nowadays, organizations face the co-presence of three generations of workers (“baby boomers”, Xers and Yers). However, another generation will join the workforce in the next years: the generation Z. Accordingly, companies must be able to understand their characteristics and expectations, in order to manage their generation mix. This study aims to fulfill a consistent gap in the extant literature, also providing important managerial implications, when formulating three propositions: (a) there are specific aspects which Zers give more importance when choosing their job; (b) the use of technology and the typology of technological devices characterize the digital employee experience of the generation Z; and (c) the entry of the new generation of workers has an impact on diversity management practices within organizations. After a comprehensive review of the literature, we analyze and discuss the results of a survey among 298 young people, belonging to the generation Z. The findings reveal both a universal profile of the future generation of workers, together with their digital behaviors.

Innovating e-Recruitment Services: An Italian Case Study

Michela Iannotta; Mauro Gatti

In a currently global, social and digital world, new challenges are coming to companies. The evolution of Information Technology and the rapid extension of the Internet have revolutionized the way of managing human resources. Nowadays, the real challenge for organizations is to achieve, hire and retain talents in order to enhance their competitive advantage. The paper aims to analyze the emerging trends in the e-recruitment services by investigating the case study of Face4Job, an innovative Italian start-up in this sector. The purpose is to explore why and how the problems related to traditional recruitment and e-recruitment models have led to an innovative solution of “talent hunting”. Our findings show several innovative solutions in order to more efficiently match the requests of employers and job seekers and to make the search of talent much more qualified.

The antecedents of e-learning adoption within Italian corporate universities: a comparative case study

Michela Iannotta; Chiara Meret; Mauro Gatti; Fabrizio D'ascenzo

The implementation of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in business education appears to be influenced by a number of organizational issues, such as culture and technological sophistication. However, extant research has had very little to say about the antecedents that shape the adoption and diffusion of ICT across companies. In order to shed light on the phenomenon under investigation, this paper presents a comparative case study between five Italian companies that have instituted a corporate university. By distinguishing companies in typical cases and deviant cases with regard to the extensive use of e-learning technologies, our findings provide some useful insights about the antecedents that make companies more or less prone to employ the new frontiers of technology in their CUs.
