The Gravimetric Geoid in Spain: First Results

Miguel J. Sevilla; A. J. Gil; F. Sansò

A method for validation of gravity anomalies, and the prediction of geoid undulation in a small zone in the center of Spain, using the least squares collocation method are presented.

Gravimetric Data Validation in the Mediterranean Sea

G. Rodríguez-Caderot; Miguel J. Sevilla; A. J. Gil

A procedure for gravimetric data validation in sea zones has been established and applied to a set of 26949 free-air gravity anomalies in the Mediterranean sea, in the framework of the Geomed project which aims at evaluating a high precision geoid in this area.

Comparison of Geoids from Several Geopotential Coefficients in Spain

A. J. Gil; Miguel J. Sevilla; G. Rodríguez-Caderot

In Spain several geoid determinations have been done from three spherical harmonic expansion models of degree and order 360, namely, IFE88E2, OSU89B and OSU91A. Comparisons to a geoid solution computed by using least-squares collocation from gravity anomalies with the additional use of topographic data have been made in Central Spain in order to study the accuracy of these geoid determinations. Comparisons between observed and geopotential model implied gravity anomalies show that the IFE88E2 model is more adequate for this area. Statistics concerning the mean and standard deviation of differences are presented.

GEOMED Gravimetry Data Validation: Status Report

Miguel J. Sevilla; G. Rodríguez Caderot; J. Otero; A. J. Gil; P. Zamorano; P. Romero

The aim of the GEOMED project is the study of the geoid in closed seas with particular regards to the Mediterranean. The MADRID GEOMED GROUP is charged to collect, classify and validate the gravimetry data. In this paper a status report of the gravimetry data validation is presented as a part of the work done by the participants in the project. A full version is an internal report of the International GEOMED Group.
