A new Artificial Vision Method for Bad Atmospheric Conditions

M. Curilă; S. Curilă; Ovidiu Novac; Mihaela Novac

We propose in this paper a method for enhancing vision through fog, based on Blind Source Separation (BSS). BSS method recovers independent source signals from a set of their linear mixtures, where the mixing matrix is unknown. The mixtures are represented in our work by the natural logarithm of the degraded image at different wavelength. These provide an additive mixture of transmittivity coefficient (related to fog) and reflectivity coefficient (related to each point of the scene).

Numerical Analysis of Electromagnetic Field Coupled with the Thermal Field in Induction Heating Process

Mihaela Novac; Ovidiu Novac; Ecaterina Vladu; Liliana Indrie; Adriana Grava

The main goal is to present results of numerical simulations of induction heating process in pieces of cylindrical shape, using an inductor with variable step between the coils. Inducting heating process modelling was made with the Flux2D software and for study we present the temperature charts of the billet at different time steps.

A Comparative Study Regarding a Memory Hierarchy with the CDLR SPEC 2000 Simulator

Ovidiu Novac; M. Vlădutiu; St Vari Kakas; Mihaela Novac; Mircea Gordan

We have built a simulator named, CDLR SPEC 2000. This simulator is based on traces for systems with cache memories. With CDLR SPEC 2000 program we can study, for a memory hierarcy, the next parameters: maping function, block size, writing strategies, replacement algoritm, size of cache memory, number of cache sets (for the set associative caches), number of words form a block. The simulator can be used for the study of cache memory behaviour. Also the CDLR SPEC 2000 program, introduce the calculus of CDLR of a memory hierarchy. A common metric used for the assessment of overall reliability, in a memory hierarchy is the Mean Time To Failure (MTTF), but it doesn’t take into account for the time of data storage in each level. We propose another metric, Cache Data Loss Rate (CDLR), for this reason. We will derive a recurrent formula for computing CDLR, and we will validate it by computer simulation.

Comparative study of Google Android, Apple iOS and Microsoft Windows Phone mobile operating systems

Ovidiu Constantin Novac; Mihaela Novac; Cornelia Gordan; Tamás Bérczes; Gyöngyi Bujdosó

This paper focuses on a comparative study of the most used three operating systems for mobile devices: Google Android, Apple iOS and Microsoft Windows Phone. The article presents which are the most important features of this three operating systems. The paper also deals with the features that these operating systems have in common and analyzes some of their disadvantages.

Study on microwave field extraction of the celery essential oils

Mircea Nicolae Arion; Francisc Ioan Hathazi; Carmen Otilia Molnar; Vasile Darie Soproni; Mihaela Novac

The main objective of this work it is to highlight the possibilities of substitution of all or a part of the current technology with technology of extracting by using microwave energy and to highlight the existence differences in quality of the extracted oils for different temperatures using as solvent the ethyl alcohol. In this paper is studied the essential oil extraction method that was performed from the leaves, stems and roots of celeriac milled, by using ethanol as extraction solvent. In a series of experiments were examined the effect of process parameters - initial temperature, the temperature of extraction, the particle size of celery used - the rate of extraction. The results showed a significant increase in the rate of extraction of celery with decreasing particle size analyzed. A similar effect was observed with increasing solvent flow rate and the temperature decrease.

Bond-graph modeling of the equivalent RL and RC scheme of the circuits composing an electrical transmission line

Adriana-Marcela Grava; C. Grava; Mihaela Novac

This paper aims to achieve the bond-graph model and the analysis of two equivalent electrical schemes that represents parts of the equivalent electrical schemes used for analyzing an electrical cable that contains 10 cells per meter. This analysis is performed with the aim to obtain results as close to reality as possible due to the influences of electrical cables used to interconnect different electrical systems and complex systems. The future work will aim to achieve the bond-graph model of an isolated cable with four conductors containing 10 cells per meter and its analysis using the 20SIM simulation software.

Numerical Modeling of Electromagnetic Induction Heating Process Using an Inductor with Constant Step Between Turns

Mihaela Novac; Ovidiu Novac; Mircea Gordan; Cornelia Gordan

This paper presents a numerical modeling for an induction heating system with axial symmetry. Our induction heating system use cylindrical pieces and one particular property of the inductor is the constant step between the turns of coils. We use a simulation program that will give us a lot of information that are experimentaly inaccesible. To obtain a high precision numerical modeling we use a performant software (Flux2D).

Dependability Aspects Regarding the Cache Level of a Memory Hierarchy using Hamming Codes

Ovidiu Novac; St. Vari-Kakas; Mihaela Novac; Ecaterina Vladu; Liliana Indrie

In this paper we will apply a SEC-DED code to the cache level of a memory hierarchy. From the category of SEC-DED (Single Error Correction Double Error Detection) codes we select the Hamming code. For correction of single-bit error we use a syndrome decoder, a syndrome generator and the check bits generator circuit.
