The present investigation attempted to define a geometrical hexagon model for representing the sagittal range of motion (ROM) of hip and knee joint. The effect of both monoarticular and biarticular muscles on joint mobility in children with spastic cerebral palsy (SCP) were analyzed by this geometrical method. Photographic analysis was used to measure hip and knee joint angle at six different boundary positions. The ROM in normal children indicated age dependent reduction of maximal hip flexion and shortening of hamstring and rectus femoris muscles. A number of SCP children showed greater reduction of both hip flexion and extension and shortening of hamstring and rectus femoris muscles, whereas the ROM of knee joint was similar to that in normal children. The deteriorated hip joint mobility seems to be associated with shortening of muscle due to their intrinsic spasticity. The impaired ROM was more noticeable in SCP non-ambulator child than in independent ambulator. Thus, more extended range and frequent opportunity of joint motion may play an important role in improving the joint mobility in this patient group. Copyright 1998 Elsevier Science B.V.

EDLCs offer high energy density and long life span, so various applications may be anticipated in the realm of energy storage devices, such as those used in electric vehicles or electric power stabilization in power systems, etc. However, since the voltage limit is low of the devices, it is necessary to connect them in series or parallel. In addition, it is required that they be used in the region of their critical voltage limit or capacity limit. In order to apply them efficiently, the devices should be used with balanced voltage. In this paper, some novel voltage balancers are presented, employing a CW (Cockcroft-Walton) circuit as a basic construction. Characteristics of proposed circuits are analyzed and improved especially about circuit construction strategies.

The actual application of solar panels is almost installed on top of the roof of the detached house. However, some residents living in the apartment house are having a fairly strong desire to contribute for energy saving due to natural energy generation. In this paper, in order to give a reply, a simple and concise photovoltaic power conditioner installed in apartment house having verandas. Considering fairly reduced generation power and narrow space of installation, the system constructions should be simple and concise. In this paper, the circuit which gratified their wishes are presented and discussed.

Utility-interactive photovoltaic power generations have been accepted and spread widely. Various innovative power conditioning systems have been also studied. In domestic utilization, the actual application of such solar panels is almost installed on top of the roof of the detached house. However, some residents living in the apartment house are having fairly strong desire to contribute for energy saving due to natural energy generation. The generating power in such case is fairly reduced, so the system construction should balance the reduced power. Thus, it is necessary to improve the construction toward simple one. In this paper, in order to give a reply, simple and concise power conditioners, especially inverter systems are devised and examined. Considering fairly reduced generation power and narrow space of installation, the system constructions should be compact. The circuit which gratifies their wishes are presented and discussed.

In domestic utilization, the actual application of such solar panels is almost installed on top of the roof of the detached house. However, some residents living in the apartment house are having fairly strong desire to contribute for energy saving due to natural energy generation. The generating power in such case is fairly small, so the system construction should balance such small power. Thus, it is necessary to improve the construction toward simple one. In this paper, in order to give a reply, simple and concise photovoltaic power generating systems are examined. With considering fairly reduced generated power, the system constructions including inverter should be compact. The circuit which gratifies their wishes are presented and discussed.
