Timely diffusion of IT products is critical to the success of technology companies. However, many IT products fail to attain the critical mass required for profitability. Although several studies have identified perceived usefulness as the primary factor in IT adoption, statistics indicate that some Korean consumers avoid IT products despite understanding their utility. This study empirically examines the effects of perceived risks and switching barriers on Korean non-adopters’ intention to use smartphones. The results indicate that the intention to use smartphones is generally influenced by perceived usefulness, financial risk, and cost effectiveness. Those who choose to avoid smartphones despite perceiving their usefulness have additional concerns regarding the perceived non-attractiveness of other service providers. This study samples non-adopters and analytically compares individuals with high levels of smartphone utility perception and varying levels of smartphone usage intention, thereby providing insights to organizations for customizing products and marketing approaches to tap into this market niche.

The introduction of the voice service to WiBro and the commercialization of 4G services will lead not only to the supersession of the existing voice market by m-VoIP but also to a greatly expanded market through the introduction of various value added services. For the purposes of this study, a market survey of Koreans was carried out as part of a methodical study of the factors influencing m-VOIP acceptance. Based on the findings of the study, the implications for the promotion m-VoIP in Korea are presented as the result.

There is no application of ubiquitous computing that holds as an exciting promise as u-health. The benefits of u-health can be concrete and consequential, as they touch areas directly impacting our well-being and the quality of life for all of us. With progress in ICT and health care and medical technology providing capability, the introduction of u-health has been propelled by an increasing demand from both ends of the health care service market - service providers and users. This development was also certainly facilitated by the expanding scope of business covered by telecom operators and solution providers, and policy-level support by the government to spur the infusion of ICT in health care services. The benefits expected from u-health are enormous. In addition to the tremendous contribution to the welfare of health care users, it is projected to entail huge economic effects, bolstering the growth of the health care industry as a whole, as well as the ICT industries, including solution and equipment sectors. In this paper, we, predict demand for both the services and related equipment based on the results of a consumer survey, identify factors affecting the diffusion of this new service system, and, finally, suggest market development strategies for it.

In Korea the ICT parts industry has firmly established its position as a major contributor to the national economy based on increased exports and an improved trade balance. However, the Korean ICT materials and parts industry has stagnated in recent years due to heavy dependence on just a few products such as semiconductors and displays, intensifying global competition, a growing dependence on international trade, the nations small business-centered industrial structure, etc. As such, this paper intends to study the governments policy of fostering the Korean ICT parts industry, as well as the industrys current situation, external competitiveness, and current problems, in order to propose industrial promotion measures to help Korean ICT parts industry attain global competiveness.

The portable Internet market, touted for its strong potential since its formative stage, has been recently receiving renewed attention for the prospects of its corporate segment. The new technology makes it possible for corporate customers to easily connect to internal information systems and conveniently access the Internet from outside locations, in wired as well as wireless mode, and has the potential to improve efficiency and productivity in customer management, inventory management and logistics. In this paper, we predict the demand in the corporate portable Internet market and suggest business strategies for market development. To do this, we conducted a series of focus group interviews (FGI) on corporate employees - general employees and sales department employees - and surveyed 300 companies located in the Seoul and metropolitan area and employing 50 workers or over. We analyzed the results of this survey and interviews to measure the potential intention to use portable Internet service and identify usage behaviors and patterns, and present implications for marketers at the level of deployment strategy
