Influence of dielectric support on military radiated emission tests above 30 MHz

Osman Sen; Soydan Cakir; Murat Celep; Mehmet Cinar; Ramiz Hamid; Mustafa Cetintas

We experimentally investigated the influence of dielectric supports used on RE102 radiated emission tests of the MIL-STD-461F EMC standard for table-top and conductive surface mounted Equipment Under Test (EUT). A variety of dielectric materials which are commonly selected as supports under EUT cables in RE102 tests were investigated by using an actual RE102 test setup in a semi anechoic chamber. Each investigated material yielded different effects on RE102 test results in comparison to the case without support, in other words, with the air support.

New effective coaxial twin-load microcalorimeter system

Yaser S. E. Abdo; Murat Celep

This paper describes a new coaxial twin-load microcalorimeter, which was designed and fabricated to be installed at the national metrology institute of Egypt (NIS). Each component of the microcalorimeter measurement setup was measured and characterized separately to ensure its performance. The effective efficiency of a type-N thermistor mount at different frequency points was measured using the designed microcalorimeter setup. A comparison between these measured values and the corresponding effective efficiency measured by the microcalorimeter setup of the national metrology institute of Turkey (TÜBİTAK UME) was done to validate the accuracy of the new setup.

This paper describes measurement system established for microwave low power measurement at TüBITAK UME. System was carried through the superheterodyne type receiver. The system was realized between 100 MHz to 26.5 GHz frequency range. Also error model of the system was analyzed. The output power of a signal source was measured between -60 dBm to -120 dBm. The expanded uncertainty (k=2) of the measured power is between 0.19 dB to 3.04 dB in all frequency range.

Design and test of gas tight microwave transmission lines for resonance frequency measurements with cavity resonators up to 830 K

Murat Celep; Handan Sakarya

In response to the need for a reliable electrical connection between a microwave cavity resonator to be operated at temperatures as high as 800 K and a network analyzer at room temperature, we designed suitable transmission lines. The performance of these lines was tested by measuring resonance frequency around 5 GHz of a cylindrical stainless steel resonator between ambient temperature and 833 K.
