Abstract The freshwater jellyfish Craspedacusta sowerbyi was found regularly at Topçam Reservoir, Aydın province, Turkey, between June 1999 and June 2000. It is thought that the species has been unintentionally introduced into the reservoir together with fishes. This is one of the first records for Turkey.

In the framework of the study performed in 1997 on the ecological conditions of Bafa Lake and its benthic fauna and flora, a dense population of Mytilaster marioni (Locard, 1889) was observed to have recently colonised the lake. In this study, the ecological changes of the lake induced by a modification of the freshwater inflow, as well as the ecological and taxonomical features of M. marioni, have been investigated. This is the first record of the species from the coastal lakes of the Aegean Sea.

Abstract A new species of freshwater Amphipod, Gammarus katagani sp. n., collected from Domaniç in Kütahya province, Turkey, is described and illustrated. The new species belongs to the Gammarus balcanicus-group. The presence of an additional row of setae on the last two meta-some segments in both sexes is the most diagnostic character for the species. A detailed morphological description and illustrations of the new species are given and differences from related species are discussed.

The Mediterranean green crab Carcinus aestuarii Nardo, 1847 (Crustacea, Brachyura, Portunidae) is a common inhabitant of the shallow waters of Homa Lagoon in Izmir Bay, Turkey, in the eastern Mediterranean. Monthly samples were collected in Homa Lagoon from June 2006 to May 2007 using trammel nets, fyke nets, beach seines and fence traps. In total, 608 males and 559 females of C. aestuarii were collected. The highest sex ratio (81–86% females) was recorded between October and December, and in August (58% females). Ovigerous females were obtained only from November to February with the highest ratio of ovigerous females (55%) observed in January 2007. The maturation curve presenting the carapace width showed that 50% of female crabs with the carapace width of 26.84 ±1.58 mm (r= 0.72) were physiologically mature. Regression analyses indicated that the number of eggs was positively correlated with carapace width and wet weight (P < 0.05, in both cases).

Abstract The genus Gammarus Fabricius, 1775 is represented in Turkey by 38 species. Only four of them occur in marine or brackish habitats and the remaining species are pure freshwater species. Some of them adopted to living in extreme habitats, such as wells, cave waters etc. An updated list of Gammarus taxa reported from Turkey is presented in addition to some supplementary records.

Very little literature is available on the freshwater leeches of the Aegean region of Turkey. GELDIAY & TAREEN (1972) studied the benthic fauna of Gölcük Lake (Bozda ) and found five leech species (Helobdella stagnalis, Piscicola geometrica, Hirudo medicinalis, Erpobdella octoculata and Erpobdella testacea). KAZANCI et al. (1992) mentioned the presence of Haementaria costata and Dina lineata in the Köyce iz-Dalyan area. USTAO LU et al. (1998) reported six leech species (Haementaria costata, Hemiclepsis marginata, H. stagnalis, Glossiphonia complanata, Haemopis sanguisuga and E. octoculata) from Tahtal Dam Lake, and BALIK et al. (1999) studied rivers of the Northern Aegean region and reported two leech species (H. stagnalis and E. octaculata). KASPAREK et al. (2000) studied the distribution

Karina Lagunu Malacostraca faunasinin belirlenmesi amaciyla, 26.05.2011-10.04.2012 tarihleri arasinda, toplam 9 adet istasyonda mevsimsel olarak kantitatif bir calisma yapilmistir. Calismanin sonucunda, Amhipoda’dan 7 (Gammarus aequicauda, G. subtypicus, G. insensibilis, Monocorophium sextonae, Ericthonius punctatus, Dexaminae spinosa, Microdeutopus gryllotalpa), Isopoda’dan 4 (Idotea balthica basteri, Sphaeroma serratum, Sphaeroma pulchellum, Lekanesphaera monodi) ve Decapoda’dan 3 (Palaemon longirostris, Hippolyte holthuisi, Carcinus aestuarii) olmak uzere toplam 14 tur saptanmistir. Turlerin istasyonlara ve ornekleme tarihlerine gore dagilimlari verilmistir. Mevcut calisma ile Turkiye’nin en onemli ve verimli laguner alanlarindan biri olan Karina Lagunu’nde dagilim gosteren Malacostraca turleri tespit edilerek Turkiye biyo-cesitliligi hakkindaki bilgilere katki yapilmasi amaclanmistir
