There are many agricultural facilities (46.7%) that have been over 30 years in the Republic of Korea (the ratio of reservoirs built before 1945 is 53%, from 1946 to 1971 is 35%). In the case of reservoirs which do most important functions among these facilities, only 3,000 reservoirs are managed by Korea Rural Community & Agriculture Corporation (KRC) and the other 15,000 reservoirs are managed by local authorities (City and Gun). But, 15,000 reservoirs included in City. Gun have been built in more wide area than KRC and the reservoir management system has not been operated well because of shortage of budget and manpower of the local authorities. Particularly, the abnormal weather happened during every summer season recently has ruined a lot of rural community facilities. So flood control function have been more important than irrigation function in agricultural reservoir system and it may be required to introduce new safe, management and maintenance techniques in City Gun reservoirs. So we investigated landscapes and deteriorations of agricultural reservoirs managed by local small governments for revealing not only present usage but also future value. Survey shows that there are no structural managements except typical hydrological reportings and the deterioration of small darn is very serious. There are needs for more systematic management system and equipment methods. Therefore, this study may suggest that reservoir (that takes charge of the greatest deal of weight in all agricultural facilities) must be considered as new concept of the usage and the unification. On the other hand, reservoir must be also developed as amenity resources, natural circumstances and district values.

In the evaluation of rural amenity, it is hard to estimate the worth of rural amenity as numerical values. To evaluate the worth of an abstract idea, information measure technique(IMT) can be used. In this research, rural amenity priority assessment model(RAPAM) was developed adapting IMT. To apply the developed model for assessment of rural amenity, an encyclopedia was used as information gathering and utilizing system(IGUS). The application result of the developed model which was compared with the result of survey have similar trend. is 0.8539, RMSE is 0.382 and the applicability of RAPAM was proved.

Methodologies of the finite element and boundary element are combined to achieve an efficient and accurate analysis model of frame structure containing shear wall. This model analyzes the frame by employing the finite element method and the shear wall by boundary element method. This study is applicable to a specific situation, where the boundary element is surrounded by finite elements. By employing FE dominant method in which boundary stiffness matrix is transformed into finite element stiffness matrix, boundary element and finite element method are combined to analyze frame structure with walls.

This paper explores the impact of the age structure on regional productivity. An estimation model based on artificial neural network (ANN) was developed on the assumption that demographic change, due to aging and migration has a significant effect on the regional productivity, especially in rural regions. A multilayer perceptron ANN model was applied to consider the composition of demographic structure rather than ratio between two population groups such as aged-child ratio. Regional productivity was estimated by applying the estimation model developed in this research study to population and aggregate product data of sixteen South Korean cities and counties, from 2000 to 2011. Developed model is trained with data of sixteen cities and counties, from 2000 to 2009, and verified with observation data and estimation results of 2010 and 2011. The results revealed that gross regional domestic product per capita, which represents regional productivity, is significantly related to demographic structure and can be estimated by age structure.

Highly pathogenic avian influenza could not be identified visually. It takes time to identify the symptoms by its incubation period. Without taking a quick step, the diffusion area of HPAI has dramatically increased, the extent of damage becomes bigger. In network research, the algorithm of finding the central node on the network applied to various diffusion of epidemic problems, was used in control system of tracing the diffusion path, blocking central nodes. This study tried to make the diffusion of HPAI network model for the crowded farms area, and reduce the diffusion rate to control the high-risk farms.

The effects of mineral admixtures and reinforcing fibres on the bonding strength of high-strength concrete to carbon fibre reinforced polymer (CFRP) reinforcing bars were evaluated. The mineral admixtures consisted of 5, 10 and 15% silica fume or metakaolin in cement. The reinforcing fibres were composed of steel, structural polyvinyl alcohol, or a polyolefin-based structural synthetic polymer. Interactions between the high-strength concrete and the CFRP reinforcing bar were determined by direct bonding tests. The compressive strength of the concrete composites depended on the content and characteristics of the admixture and reinforcing fibres. Bonding strength tests of the composites showed an increase in bonding strength with the strength of the concrete. The addition of reinforcing fibres inhibited crack formation and significantly improved the bonding behaviour and relative bonding strength. Both the absolute and relative bonding strengths were enhanced by adhesion forces induced by the mineral admixture.

The purpose of this study was to develop an optimum equipment model considering various objective functions and variables of agricultural reservoir. Traditional optimum function for feasibility assessment is based on economic benefit, but we tried new approach of feasibility assessment based on the number of beneficiary. The data of Yuraimi reservoir and Yongbong reservoir in Yesan-gun such as numbers of related people, construction costs, safe diagnosis have been gathered for applying developed model. Data are used for determining optimum strategy with restricted cost. For verifying results of optimum maintenance, real maintenance data of Yuraimi reservoir were compared with simulated strategy. Results show that simulated maintenance strategies are 3 times more effective than real maintenance data.

Estimations of paddy field area are important for agricultural water supply planning. Especially these estimations have to be excused by drainage basin. In this research, we developed a paddy field estimation model considering shift-share effects such as national growing, structural, local effects. National growing effects are estimated by adopting the result of KREI-ASMO model which predict farm land area in national level. Paddy field structural effects are estimated using statistical data about farmhouse numbers and cultivation areas. Local allocation effects are calculated by differences of estimations and real data. The results using data from 1998 to 2003 show that developed model estimates 2006 paddy field areas in each province in 5% error and is applicable to predict future change of paddy field.

An advanced model for assessing life cycle cost of the facility containing several subdivisions has been proposed with systems engineering approach. This model evaluates the maintenance cost in the sphere of the safety as well as in that of its functionality. The proposed approach has been shown to be more reasonable and practical than existing models. The serviceability and reasonability have been proved through evaluating life cycle cost of the reservoir which is a representative agricultural facility. In addition, the proposed method is helpful to make a maintenance strategy using the survival probability in the point of safety and functionality.

Defining the correlations between rural amenities, while difficult, is important for the adequate and efficient development of these amenities. In this research, an Interactional Information Measuring Technique(IIMT) using Information Gathering and Utilizing System(IGUS) was developed to objectively analyze the correlations between abstract ideas. In order to analyze correlations between rural amenities, this model used the Korean Dusan World Encyclopedia as IGUS and the relative interactional information was measured. The correlations between rural amenities were analyzed objectively using IIMT with the results satisfying the basic conditions of interactional information suggested in this research.
