Synthesis and characterization of new tetraaza-bridged polymeric phthalocyanines

Erbil Aǧar; Selami Şaşmaz; İbrahim Keskin; Nesuhi Akdemir

Abstract New tetraaza-bridged metal-free and metal phthalocyanine polymers were prepared. The metal-free phthalocyanine polymer was obtained by the reaction of 4,4′-(octane-1,5,8,12-tetra-p-tolysulphonyl-1,5,8,12-tetraamine)-diphthalonitrile with hydroquinone. The chlorides of Cu(II), Ni(II) and Co(II) were employed in order to synthesize the corresponding metal-phthalocyanine polymer, Zn(CH3CO2)2 was used for the preparation of the zinc phthalocyanine, and Fe(CO)5 was used for the preparation of the Fe-analog. For the preparation of the Co-containing polymer, ammonium molybdate had to be added as catalyst. The new polymers have been characterized by elemental analyses, IR, NMR and UV-VIS spectroscopy. The electrical conductivities of the phthalocyanine polymers measured as gold sandwiches are about 10−9 Sm−1 in vacuo and 10−8 Sm−1 in air.

Synthesis and characterization of new phthalocyanines containing thio-Oxa-Ether moieties

Selami Şaşmaz; Erbil Ağar; Nesuhi Akdemir; İbrahim Keskin

Abstract Metal-free and metal phthalocyanines (M: H 2 , Ni, Co, Zn) 4 – 7 containing four 9-membered dithiaoxa macrocycles were prepared. The new compounds were characterized by elemental analyses, and IR, 1 H-NMR, UV-VIS and DTA. The dithiaoxa-substituted phthalocyanines are less soluble than the aza and oxa-substituted ones.

Synthesis and Characterization of Novel Phthalocyanines Containing N-(n-Octyl)Mercapto Acetamid Substituents

Nesuhi Akdemir; I˚ Erdem Gümrükcüoğlu; Erbil Ağar

Metal-free and metallo-phthalocyanines (M=Cu, Ni, Co, Zn) carrying four N-(n-octyl)mercapto acetamide group on peripheral positions have been synthesized from the corresponding phthalonitrile derivatives in the presence or the absence of anhydrous metal salt (CuCl, NiCl2, CoCI2, Zn(CH3COO)2). The novel compounds have been characterized by elemental analyses, IR, NMR, and UV/VIS spectroscopy.

4,5‐Bis(2‐tert‐butylphenoxy)phthalonitrile

Nazan Ocak; Şamil Işık; Nesuhi Akdemir; Cihan Kantar; Erbil Ağar

The title compound, C28H28N2O2, contains three aromatic rings, which are not coplanar and which are distorted from ideal C2v symmetry. The crystal structure involves four intramolecular C—H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

4-(2-Isopropyl-5-methylphenoxy)phthalonitrile

Şehriman Atalay; Ayşen Agˇar; Nesuhi Akdemir; Erbil Agˇar

In the title compound, C18H16N2O, two benzene rings are connected by an O atom, and the dihedral angle between them is 86.83 (1)°. The C—O—C angle is 118.50 (14)°.

Synthesis and Characterization of new Phthalocyanines Containing Four 15-Membered Tetrathiaoxa Macrocycles

Erbil Aar; Selami Savrnaz; Nesuhi Akdemir; İbrahim Keskin

Abstract A straightforward and generalizable synthesis of metal-free (H2) and metal derivatives (M = Ni, Co or Zn) of a symmetrically tetrasubstituted phthalocyaninc derived from tetrathiooxaphthalonitrile is described. All of these complexes were insolublc in common solvents such as DMF, chloroform. ethanol and water. Structures are suggested based on clemcntal analyses, IR, NMR (only for interniadiates (I), (II) and (III)), UV-Vis spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analysis.

Erbil Ağar; Selami Şaşmaz; Nesuhi Akdemir; İbrahim Keskin

Symmetrically tetrasubstituted metal-free and metal phthalocyanines (M = 2H, Cu, Ni, Co, Zn or Fe) with four 15-membered heteroatom (N, O, S)-containing donor sites attached have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, NMR, UV/VIS spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analysis.

8-{(E)-[(4-Chloro-phen-yl)imino]-meth-yl}-1,1,7,7-tetra-methyl-1,2,3,5,6,7-hexa-hydro-pyrido[3,2,1-ij]quinolin-9-ol.

Esen Nur Kantar; Yavuz Köysal; Nesuhi Akdemir; Ayşen Alaman Ağar; Mustafa Serkan Soylu

The title Schiff base, C23H27ClN2O adopts the phenol–imine tautomeric form, with an intramolecular O—H⋯N hydrogen bond, which generates an S(6) ring motif. Three C atoms of the heterocyclic moiety of the hexahydropyridoquinoline unit, as well as the two methyl groups bonded to one of these C atoms, are disordered over two set of sites, with anoccupancy ratio of 0.740 (4):0.260 (4).

Nazan Ocak; Ayşen Agˇar; Nesuhi Akdemir; Erbil Agˇar; Santiago García-Granda; Ahmet Erdönmez

The title compound, C26H19N5O2, contains three aromatic rings, which are not coplanar. The crystal structure is stabilized by intermolecular C—H⋯N contacts.
