Richner-Hanhart Syndrome and Tyrosinemia Type II

A patient already published a case of Richner-Hanhart syndrome (RHS) (stabilized corneal lesions and hyperkeratotic lesions on the palms and soles) proved to be associated with tyrosinemia type II. 2 other cases (sister and brother) with only typical dermatologic features of RHS and tyrosinemia type II are described. The treatment with a low phenylalanine and tyrosine diet improves the cutaneous lesions in our 3 cases.

Mitteilungen – Communications Alcohol Contact Urticaria Syndrome (Immediate-Type Hypersensitivity)

A case of alcohol contact urticaria is described. The immediate reactions with most of the primary alcohols were positive. Passive transfer was achieved.

Sensitization to Kathon CG in Geneva and Switzerland

Between October 1986 and June 1987 we patch tested 420 patients with Kathon CG at 100 ppm and obtained 23 positive reactions (5.5%). The other 5 Swiss university clinics joined our study between January and June 1987 and obtained sensitization rates ranging from 0.7 to 7.5%. The total mean value including Geneva was 3.6%. We did threshold patch testing in 12 patients with the following Kathon CG dilutions: 100, 50, 25, 15 and 7 ppm. We observed progressively diminishing skin reactions, especially below 25 ppm, but we still obtained slight positive reactions in 2 patients with Kathon CG at 7 ppm. Those reactions were relevant because the dermatitis disappeared when the: use of Kathon‐containing creams was discontinued.

L’œdème aigu hémorragique du nourrisson (purpura en cocarde avec œdème)

Description of two cases of acute haemorrhagic oedema (purpura en cocarde with oedema) in infants with its clinical signs: oedema occurring distally, ecchymotic purpura en cocarde, associated generally with rhinopharyngeal manifestations. Histology: pericapillaritis with diapedesis and discrete inflammation is not pathognomonic.

Réticulo-histiocytome du dos de l’adulte

The clinical and histopathological pattern and the ultrastructural picture of a new case of the adult’s back reticulo-histiocytome, are described. Dysplasic and malignant aspect of the infiltrated cells, confirmed by nuclear anomalies, contrasting with the slowness in evolution of the disease and a good general status, justify the individuality of this disease in the complicated family of reticuloses.

SummaryAfter topical application of the carcinogen DMBA on the rabbits ear, tumors will always appear. These are clinically characterised by their important hyperkeratosis. Some of these tumors develop rapidly and disappear completely as do KA.Others do not reach such an important size but do not regress. None of these tumors looked like a malignant tumor and did not show signs of invasiveness nor metastasis. However the histological findings reveal in some cases precancerous and malignant aspects. The number of tumors can be increased by lengthening the applicationtime of the carcinogen, by modifying the mode of application (repeated application and transport medium DMSO) and by irradiation.ZusammenfassungNach lokaler Applikation des Kanzerorgans DMBA auf das Kaninchenohr kommt es immer zur Tumorbildung, die klinisch durch eine stark ausgeprägte Hyperkeratose gekennzeichnet ist. Ein Teil dieser Tumoren nimmt rasch an Größe zu, neigt aber auch zu rascher, spontaner Rückbildung, so wie das für das KA bekannt ist. Andere der hervorgerufenen Tumoren erreichen nicht diese Größe, verschwinden aber nicht in allen Fällen. Kein Tumor hat wirklich malignes Verhalten gezeigt (Metastasen, schrankenloses Wachstum).Im Gegensatz zu dieser klinischen Beobachtung zeigte die histologische Untersuchung verschiedene präepitheliomatöse und maligne Bilder.Die Zahl der Tumoren kann durch die Dauer der Applikation des Kanzerogens erheblich erhöht werden, ebenso durch den Applikationsmodus (wiederholtes Auftragen, DMSO als Transportmilieu) und durch UV-Bestrahlung.

Membrane activity in histiocytic diseases of the skin.

Study of the histiocytes from a large variety of skin diseases demonstrates a close relationship between the cell processes peculiar to those cells and their degree of phagocytic activity. The membrane structures, as well as the dense bodies localized in the peripheral cytoplasm, suggest a type of endocytosis distinct from pinocytosis and phagocytosis.

Sensibilisations cutanées allergiques peu communes

Eight cases are described: four of contact dermatitis caused by nickel in children, one in a young boy caused by hexavalent chromium, and three cases in children also caused by phenyl mercuric borate.

Neurosyphilis et évolution de la syphilis à Genève (1970–1980)

From 1970 to 1980 we observed 12 cases of typical neurosyphilis in Geneva. These patients had never had penicillin treatment. The incidence is about 0.3 per 100,000 inhabitants. However, it is possible that some patients with atypical neurosyphilis could have been discovered among our late serological syphilis cases if lumbar punctures and complete neurological examinations could have been carried out.
