This study was carried out on 6xa0genotypes (K-1, K‑2, K‑3, K‑4, K‑5, K‑6) which have superior characteristics determined by selective breeding method from naturally-grown cornelian cherry in Konya Province. Differences among genotypes were revealed by determining fatty acid contents in samples obtained from experimented cornelian cherry. The fatty acid compositions of the samples were determined by Shimadzuxa015-A Gas Chromatography. According to the results, fatty acid composition of the cornelian cherry samples is significantly varied depending on genotypes.

Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs) includes agricultural techniques which environmentally-conscious, is not harmful to human and animal health, target protection of natural resources, provide traceability and food security. With these kinds of production techniques, it is aimed at agricultural production which is socially viable, economically profitable and sustainable. In this study conducted under good agricultural practices, pesticide residues in apricot fruit were investigated. The experiment was set up to have 3xa0replications and 15xa0trees in each replicate, according to randomized trial design. From the trees included in the experiment, necessary samples were taken at the harvest time and analyzes were carried out. In this study, pesticide residue levels were determined in fruit extracts with high-precision analytical instruments such as LC-MS/MS and GC-MS. Axa0total of 385 pesticide active substances were analyzed in LC-MS/MS and 101 pesticide active substances in GC-MS in fruit extracts. In this research carried out in 2014 and 2015, samples of both years were not found to be detectable to the tolerance values of Turkish Food Codex (TFC).

Some Physico-Chemical Characteristics in Fruits of Rose Hip (Rosa spp.) Genotypes from Bolu Province in Western Part of Turkey

Nilda Ersoy; Merve Salman Özen

More recently, functional foods or food supplements which can protect humans from oxidative stress and several diseases have attracted worldwide interest. Among functional foods, fruits were given special attention, particularly wild edible fruits (neglected or underutilized fruits). There are various neglected and underutilized fruit tree species grown in Turkey solely. They could be exploited directly as foods, or used to obtain valuable natural compounds and derivatives. Rose hip (Rosa spp.) is one of them. The aim of the study is to determine some fruit characteristics of promising rose hip selections from Bolu province in the western part of Turkey. In the selection study, around 100 wild growing rose hip plants were investigated and among them 9 promising genotypes were selected based on rose hip selection criteria. The fruit mass, fruit flesh ratio, soluble solid content, titratable acidity, total dry matter and vitamin C content of these selected nine genotypes ranged from 1.40-2.77 g, 64.92-82.83%, 24.10-30.50%, 0.04-1.55%, 32.44-56.94% and 332.42-1603.52 mg/100 g respectively. Among the 9 promising genotypes, two genotypes had high, two genotypes had medium and five genotypes had low level of thorn.
