The way in which cognitive abilities – affective as well as intellectual – influence the development of the entrepreneurial mindset has been topic of academic discussion for quite some years (Cardon et al, 2005; Grégoire et al, 2010; Krueger & Day 2010). For example, Baron (2007) argued that cognitive abilities in the form of experience are an explanatory factor for why some people identify business opportunities successfully.

Review of “What Would Google Do” by Jeff Jarvis

In the first part of What Would Google Do? Jeff Jarvis introduces us step by step to the new world as he sees it. Relationships, organizational architecture, norms of society and economy, business reality and ethics, speed and imperatives of life – everything has changed and should be reconsidered. Indeed, the book opens with the story of a single blog message that changed the strategy of a whole company and maybe even the lives of thousands of its customers. As the author claims, this is the symbol of the time: the voice of a single person now matters; we are no longer a mass or a crowd. We are active users, generators of ideas and creators of the world around us. In other words, here comes the world Andy Warhol predicted in 1968, where anybody can be famous for 15 minutes. Using his rich experience from the media industry, Jarvis illustrates the scale of the changes he sees: customers are no longer voiceless; they can express their opinions online; they have blogs. They become the source of ideas, the experts on quality, research and development, the new ad agents. All you need is to listen, to collaborate and to capitalize on the information. How? By adopting a ‘Google’ perspective:
