Chromosome numbers in species of Alchemilla L. belong to the series Sericeae Bus. and Pubescentes Bus. (section Alchemilla Rothm.) in Turkey

SUMMARYThe present paper deals with chromosome number of eight Alchemilla L. species from the section Alchemilla Rothm., subsection Chirophyllum Rothm., ser. Sericeae Bus. and subsection Heliodrosium Rothm., ser. Pubescentes Bus. The studies were carried out on plants from the Northeast Anatolia (Turkey). The following chromosome numbers have been detected: A. sericea Willd. 2n = 104, A. rizensis Pawl. 2n = 74–98, A. sericata Reichb. 2n = 92–95, A. caucasica Bus. 2n = 96–104, A. erythropoda Juz. 2n = 96–101, A. surculosa Frohn. 2n = 80–92, A. plicatissima Frohn. 2n = 104–106, A. lithophila Juz. 2n = 64–88. The species of genus Alchemilla L. studied from Northeast Anatolia are proven to be polyploids like the majority of species from the section Alchemilla investigated from various geographic areas.

Effects of the herbicide linuron on somatic chromosomes of Helianthus annuusL. (Sunflower)

Abstract In this study the effects of the herbicide linuron on somatic chromosomes of Helianthus annuus L were investigated. The roots were treated with 30, 120, 240 and 500 ppm concentration of linuron for 3, 6 and 12 hours. The mitotic and phase indexes were determined and chromosomal abnormalities were investigated in both control and test groups. It was found that linuron had a marked mitodepressive action on mitosis. The types of chromosomal abnormalities observed included: fragments, disturbed metaphase, c-mitosis, lagging chromosome, and chromatid bridge. A pronounced toxic effect is observed in concentrations 120 ppm and above its. It is considered that linuron may have genotoxic effects in higher plants.

Cytotaxonomic investigations on some taxa of the genus Vicia L. from north-eastern Anatolia

Abstract In this study, some natural Vicia L. species growing in north-eastern Anatolia were investigated cytotaxonomically. Chromosome numbers and morphologies of the 15 taxa belonging to the Vicia genus were studied by using karyological and numeric taxonomical techniques. Data obtained on chromosome measurements were analysed by using cluster analysis. The chromosome numbers of these taxa have been found as 2n = 10, 12, 14 and 24. The results were considered in conjuction with the literature and karyological analysis results.

New chromosome numbers in Alchemilla L. (Rosaceae) from Turkey

The chromosome numbers of six Alchemilla species from NE Anatolia, Turkey, belonging to A. sect. Alchemilla ser. Calycinae and ser. Elatae, respectively, are presented for the first time. Alchemilla ancerensis has 2n = 86–96, A. cimilensis 2n = 64–75, A. elevitensis 2n = 84–102, A. hemsinica 2n = 72–80, A. ikizdereensis 2n = 101–108, and A. kackarensis 2n = 66–76.

Four new species of Hieracium L. (Compositae) from NE Turkey
