Real time hand gesture movements tracking and recognizing system

Rudy Hartanto; Adhi Susanto; P. Insap Santosa

Human computer interaction has a long history to become more intuitive. For human being, gesture of different kind is one of the most intuitive and common communication. However, vision-based hand gesture recognition is a challenging problem, which is involved complex computation, due to high degree of freedom in human hand. In this paper, we use hand gesture captured by web-cam instead of mice, for natural and intuitive human-computer interaction. Skin detections method is used to create a segmented hand image and to differentiate with the background. A contours and convex hull algorithm is used to recognize hand area as well as the number of fingertip of hand gesture image to be mapped with button. Moreover, for detection of hand gesture motion, we use Lucas-Kanade pyramidal algorithm. The result shows that this system can operate well so we can interact with computer using our hand gesture instead using a mouse.

Preliminary design of static indonesian sign language recognition system

Rudy Hartanto; Adhi Susanto; P. Insap Santosa

Human computer interaction has a long history to become more intuitive. For human being, especially for the deaf, gesture of different kind is one of the most intuitive and common communication. In this paper we focus on creating a system to identified and translate hand gesture pose to Indonesian alphabets. Skin detections method is used to create a segmented hand image and to differentiate with the background. A contours is used to localize hand area. SIFT algorithm in advanced, were used to recognize the signed gesture. The result shows that this system can operate well in translated hand gesture image of sign into Indonesian alphabets.

Review of augmented reality agent in education

Bimo Sunarfri Hantono; Lukito Edi Nugroho; P. Insap Santosa

Augmented reality becomes mature enough to create various applications for end users especially in education field. This is also supported by the presence of more affordable smart phones. The features offered by augmented reality applications could make students more easily understand the lessons and the learning process more fun. Most of current augmented reality applications still present information that is always the same from time to time, there is no personalization in order to obtain an appropriate learning experience for each student. Most of the studies concentrate on the aspect of personalization assures that agents approach is needed to make the learning experience more personal and exciting. This paper aims to review the literature concerning augmented reality agents, its earlier and possible usages in educational setting.

Analysis of E-Commerce User Behavior of Indonesian Students: A Preliminary Study of Adaptive E-Commerce

Rianto; Lukito Edi Nugroho; P. Insap Santosa

Website design is one of several critical factors for the acceptance and success of an e-commerce website. A good website design influences users satisfaction and intention to use the website. This study provides guidance to develop personalized e-commerce for Indonesian students with a method recommended by users and to investigate the characteristics of Indonesian students in using e-commerce. This study used a qualitative method to analyze three components of web design i.e. information, navigation, and visual designs. Data collection was performed using a deep interview technique on Indonesians students who have been familiar with online transactions. The interpretation of qualitative data showed that Indonesian students preferred navigation and information designs to visual design. In particular, Indonesian students preferred a simple layout, easy to use navigation, and trustworthy information that promotes consumers trust.

Modeling of Consumer Interest on E-commerce Products Using Eye Tracking Methods

Juni Nurma Sari; Lukito Edi Nugroho; P. Insap Santosa; Ridi Ferdiana

In this decade, e-commerce is one of media to conduct sale and purchase transactions. The seller must maintain e-commerce service so that consumer will comfort to shop. One of the services is provide product that consumer interested. There are many ways to get consumer interest in product. Give rating to product or using click-stream data. But both need the interaction of consumer to click product rating or to click product that consumer interested. With the development of sensor technology, consumer interest in e-commerce products can be collected by eye tracking method. Eye tracking method is one way to get consumer interest in product through attention, without requiring consumer interaction with the system. The model of consumer interest in product uses time until first fixation, fixation count, and fixation duration to measure whether the object is attractive and whether the consumer is interested in the product. The measurement variable based on Aga Bojko taxonomy. The value of variable is displayed in graphical form because in graphical form the analysis of consumer interest in e-commerce product more easily to be done. Implementation of modeling consumer interest uses Ogama, eye tracking software analysis by adding a feature of graphic of consumer interest. In the graph, we can see which products are interesting and which products are preferred by consumers. The contribution of this research is the modeling of consumer interest in the product and some procedure to add graphic feature in eye tracking software analysis, ogama.

Recommendation of cloud computing use for the academic data storage in University in Lampung Province, Indonesia

Wasilah; Lukito Edi Nugroho; P. Insap Santosa; Ridi Ferdiana

A number of benefits originate from the implementation of cloud computing. Cloud computing has been extensively implemented in organizations like companies and universities. However, in Indonesia cloud computing is not widely approved by universities yet. This condition can be caused by lack of trust of the universities in the risk of cloud computing implementation. This paper is intended to analyze the risk of current data management of academic data in university, as a baseline to create recommendation of cloud computing use in university. The result of the analysis is risk leveling of academic data of cloud computing implementation in Higher Education. The process used is COBIT 5 Framework. The result of this study is expected to help the IT staffs to manage academic data in universities more effectively. Eventually, it is able to give effects on the increase of service quality.

Evaluation and measurement of Learning Management System based on user experience

Dadang Syarif Sihabudin Sahid; P. Insap Santosa; Ridi Ferdiana; Edi N. Lukito

Learning Management System (LMS) becomes more accessible to provide a virtual learning environment. The growth of pervasive and ubiquitous computing promotes development and improvement LMS rapidly. Shifting paradigm in designing LMS from technology-centered to user-centered design drives the developer to consider user experience as the primary concern to improve LMS. Therefore, evaluation and measurement of user experience for LMS become crucial. There were some studies have been conducted to evaluate and measure an LMS product in to gain feedback from the user. However, the studies implement a partial view of LMS product. They have conducted researches that limited to comparing LMS and getting perception rather than observing the quality of the LMS. This paper proposed an evaluation and measurement of user experience (UX) for LMS by implementing user experience questionnaire tools. The study aims to get feedback, benchmark and identify UX while interacting with an LMS. The data are taken from 38 students who have experience using two LMS in a different semester. The first LMS based on Moodle was implemented in the first semester (LMS 1), on the other hand, the LMS using Schoology was applied in the second semester (LMS 2). As the results, LMS 1 and LMS 2 got the relative different impression in user perception. Similarly, they also achieved a different level of relative quality. Generally, evaluation and measurement LMS using user experience questionnaire not only provide comprehensive user perception but also provide relative quality level about LMS. The results give the feedback and support when implementing the LMS.
