Domperidone is an antiemetic and pantoprazole is an antiulcer drug. Simple, precise, rapid and selective simultaneous equation and Q- analysis UV spectrophotometric methods have been developed for the simultaneous determination of domperidone and pantoprazole from combined tablet dosage forms. The methods involve solving of simultaneous equations and Q-value analysis based on measurement absorptivity at 216, 287 and 290 nm respectively. Linearity lies between 1-15 mcg/mL for domperidone and 0-50 mcg/mL for pantoprazole.

Five novel chalcones were synthesised by condensing 2-hydroxy-1-acetonaphthone with aldehyde derivatives in dilute ethanolic potassium hydroxide solution at room temperature according to Claisen-Schmidt condensation and another five novel chalcones were prepared by refluxing 3-acetyl coumarin with aldehydes in the presence of piperidine in ethanol. All these compounds were characterised by means of their IR, 1H NMR spectroscopic data and microanalyses. The antimicrobial activity of these compounds were evaluated by the cup plate method.

Most plant materials are freely and abundantly available and can be used for the removal of heavy metals from effluents. This study investigates the effects of equilibrium, kinetic, and thermodynamic parameters on biosorption of Co(II) ions onto the plant source Erythrina variegata orientalis leaf powder. The biosorption studies are carried out in a batch process. A significant increase in percentage removal of Co(II) is observed as pH value is increased from 2 to 5 and the percentage removal is maximum at pH = 7. The maximum sorption capacity is 8.3 mg/g in the range of variables investigated. The experimental data are well represented by Freundlich and Langmuir isotherms indicating favorable biosorption. The biosorption follows second-order kinetics. The biosorption is exothermic, irreversible, and spontaneous.

Two simple and sensitive Visible spectrophotometric methods (A and B) for the determination of Fexofenadine (FEX) in bulk sample and pharmaceutical formulations are described. Methods A and B are based on the formation of ion-association complex involving carboxylic acid group of FEX and the basic dyes, Safranin-O (SFN-O, method A), methylene blue (MB, method B). The results obtained in the above two methods are reproducible and are statistically validated and found to be suitable for the assay of Fexofenadine in bulk and its pharmaceutical formulations.
