The PROFIBUS Protocol Observation

Peter Drahos; Igor Belai

Abstract PROFIBUS is a very complex protocol created in 3 layers of the reference communication model. The paper shows experimental way to explain the behaviour of devices on bus under normal traffic and diagnostic events. The paper deals with two communication experiments performed on the same devices on the bus. For measurements on PROFIBUS DP physical layer the professional tester was used. It provides an overview of the signal conditions on the bus and detects the signal quality of each device on the bus. A universal tool for PROFIBUS protocol analysis can perform online bus traffic monitoring. It is able to detect and analyse the PROFIBUS frames for education and diagnosis purposes.

Device for image scanning with reduced power consumption

Vladislav Bača; Peter Fuchs; Igor Jakubička; Peter Drahos

The result of this work is a independent electronic device that is able to take pictures. The whole system is controlled wirelessly from the PC and is able to operate without supply voltage using energy harvesting. Energy independence is achieved by energy harvesting module with IO LTC3331 which supplies the scanning equipment. Consumption reduction is achieved using a low power MSP430F5529 processor which uses low power LPM3. Consumption is also reduced by disconnection electronic module that in case of inactivity disconnects unneeded peripherals of scanning device.

Nonlinear model of Ni-Ti wire actuator: Modeling for control purposes

Peter Drahos

The paper deals with the modeling and simulation of a Ni-Ti alloy wire actuator heated by an electrical resistance and cooled by natural air. In general, the model consists of non-linear static and dynamic parametric differential equations and dominant thermal hysteresis with memory. The paper deals with a modification of the original complex model to be able to control the actuator by standard methods. Simple model based position control is demonstrated using nonlinear gain estimation and compensation of latent heat.

Implementing features of 32 bit DSP microprocessor for BLDC motor control

Igor Jakubička; Vladislav Bača; Peter Fuchs; Peter Drahos

An article deals with problematic of direct current brushless motors, which are used in e-mobility thanks to their favorable properties. We will discuss in detail their structure, features, their management options and we will describe the process management with 32-bit microprocessor, which was implemented on a physical model. We will consider how this motors communicate with driver and what are their setup options.

Application of hybrid predictive control for intelligent buildings

Stefan Kozak; Anton Pytel; Peter Drahos

Recent technological innovations have caused increased interest in examining processes that have both continuous and discrete nature. Mathematical model of the process is traditionally associated with differential and difference equations typically derived from related physical laws. The paper deals with the advanced control design predictive strategy for hybrid systems in intelligent buildings consists of continuous - and discrete-time sub processes. A typical feature of hybrid systems is the interaction between continuous and discrete parts. Using hybrid control structure is one effective way to control such systems. A typical control structure is a two level computation structure. The upper level coordinates individual subsystems on the process level and derives the time and energy optimal switching control actions. Process level consists of individual subsystems which are controlled by discrete commands from the upper level such that the overall performance is achieved. Hybrid complex systems for intelligent buildings are working in multiple operating modes where each mode is controlled by its own dynamic characteristics. Transitions between modes are triggered when some state variable exceeds the threshold (state events), after expiration of specified time period (time events) or by external inputs (entry events).
