international conference on software engineering | 1999
Andreas Ulrich; Peter Zimmerer
This summary reports on the one-day Workshop on Testing Distributed Componem-Based Systems (TDCS) that took place in affiliation with the International Conference on Software Engineering (ICSE) in Los Angeles in May 1999. The workshop dealt with new advances m test methods and test technologies for the emerging class of &stributed component-based systems that are built on basis of middleware software like COM, CORBA, or Java RMI, including syslems comprising Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) components The around thirty workshop attendees discussed what efforts m software technology and research are required to cope with testing such systems. Twelve papers out of nineteen submissions were presented.
2016 IEEE/ACM 1st International Workshop on Bringing Architectural Design Thinking Into Developers' Daily Activities (BRIDGE) | 2016
Frances Paulisch; Peter Zimmerer
In this position paper for the BRIDGE workshop we describe an approach used at Siemens to address the gap between high-level design and low-level implementation. This approach is a key part of our organization-wide qualification and training program for software-related roles. These roles include both a “software architect” and a “test architect” and these roles (as well as other roles) must collaborate closely as a kind of “joint venture”.
symposium on web systems evolution | 2004
Cem Kaner; Scott R. Tilley; Harry M. Sneed; Peter Zimmerer
Summary form only given, as follows. As part of the review process for this Workshop, every paper was sent to practitioner and academic reviewers. The reviews showed striking differences between practitioners and academics. Papers that practitioners liked, the academics often rated poorly. Papers rated well by academics, the practitioners often rated poorly. The four panelists cross over between applied work and applied and more theoretical research. The panel discussion will start as a reaction to Hung Quoc Nguyens keynote address and gradually morph into a discussion of the types of research needed to yield useful insights into the role of testing in the evolution of Web based applications.
international conference on software engineering | 2018
Peter Zimmerer
This tutorial presentation describes the state-of-the-art in the emerging area of continuous testing in a DevOps context. It specifies the building blocks of a strategy for continuous testing in industrial-grade DevOps projects (iDevOps) and shares our motivations, achievements, and experiences on our journey to transform testing into the iDevOps world.
