Organizations and communities are held together by knowledge flow networks whether people are aware of them or not. Knowledge flows influence the evolution of culture and language, promote international collaboration, and hasten the development of science. In this paper, we propose a Petri net based model of knowledge flow for more effective and efficient knowledge management, knowledge flow management, and knowledge flow network planning. We describe a research approach and modeling environment that enables the knowledge flows to be formalized through computational models. The model enables users to study knowledge flow in a visualized network and to develop strategies for adapting networks to changing conditions. The basic idea is to adapt and control logistical processes for knowledge flow within teams, organizations, and communities.

Service composition provides a flexible way to quickly enable new application functionalities in next generation networks. Composite services are turned to be more and more complex, and the performance analysis of composite service is an important issue for service providers who want to get better QoS. In this paper, we proposed a stochastic Petri net based approach for modeling Web service composition constructs and calculating the equivalent delay time of the composite Web service. Four basic constructs: sequence, concurrent, choice and loop constructs are mapped into Petri net. Methods to calculate equivalent delay time are illustrated in detail. A complex composite service can be reduced by repeatedly replacing basic constructs within it with equivalent single transition. This approach can be applied in performance analysis for complex composite Web service, as well as complex systems and workflow.

For students, classroom teaching is the process of learning knowledge from teachers. The efficiency of the teaching and learning process is affected by the choice of a teaching tool and the creation of classroom environment to a large extent. In this paper, the design and development of a new teaching system — soft whiteboard system is introduced in details, which provide more support for the teachers to create a positive and interactive classroom environment, thus to improve the teaching and learning efficiency.

The thesaurus dataset of educational technology is a knowledge description of educational technology in Chinese. The aims of this thesaurus were to collect the subject terms in the domain of educational technology, facilitate the standardization of terminology and promote the communication between Chinese researchers and scholars from various countries. This thesaurus contains 2367 subject terms and 752 relation pairs between subject terms. This thesaurus can be used in bilingual control, index and retrieval of information resources. With the sudden growth of information technology, network resources and resource search technology have been developed rapidly. However, general search engines such as Google and Baidu are difficult to satisfy our retrieval requirements in professional field because the lack of professionalism. This paper constructs a vertical educational resource oriented search engine based on the circumstances of educational field. This search engine adds the professional vocabulary on the basis of general search engine, and puts forward an improved sequencing algorithm based on specialized vocabulary. These measures improved the recall and precision of resource search and achieved good effect in practical application.

Rural educational resource regional service platform is service-oriented, providing personalized service to users anywhere who participate in distance education. Users can acquire resources based on their interests, achieving to share educational resources in the maximum extent. The paper first briefly analyses the mode, the present situation and the characteristics of rural education, then puts forward the regional service model of educational resources model based on the inadequacy of existing model, and explains the rural educational resources regional service platform detailedly from several aspects such as structure, function and development and implementation.

Logic animation, a new style of animation, was first proposed in the application of dynamic geometry software. The concept, features, and possible application prospects of logic animation are further introduced in details in this paper, compared with the traditional style of animation—time-sequential animation. Based on the design ideas of dynamic geometry software, Flash and game engine, the design of a logic animation-making software is also proposed, and finally the resulting software is illustrated with several examples, demonstrating its merits.

Educational game engine is for designing and producing various puzzle games used to boost the intelligence and learning interest of the students, thus having big significance in the field of education. The design of action script system is the core of a game engine, which takes a decisive role in the development of game engine. Based on the brief introduction of a 2-D educational game engine, the Logic Animation Platform (LAP), this paper mainly introduces the design of the script system of this game engine in terms of grammatical structure and compiler realization.

With the rapid development of information technology, educational resource systems are in widespread use. For the reuse and sharing of resources and function modules, this paper designs the framework of a SOA-Based Educational Resource Services System, and presents its implementation. Besides the common characteristics of SOA, the system is flexible and scalable.
