Recent Trends in the Chemistry of Heterocyclic Sulfides, 1990–2000

This review selectively describes work that generally reflects the recent current state of knowledge about heterocyclic sulfides while emphasizing important developments, methods of synthesis, main reactions, and their biological activities.

Condensed Thioxocyclopentapyridine (Isoquinoline)-1,2,4-azines

Pyrido(isoquinolino)-1,2,4-triazepines and pyrido(isoquinolino) pyrazolo-1,2,4triazepines were obtained from a reaction between o-diaminothioxocyclopentapyridine(isoquinoline), chalcones, diketones, esters, and aldehydes, respectively. It is shown that the more basic 1-NH2 (pyrido) and/or 2-NH2 (isoquinolino) group of the starting o-diamines participate in the formation of the azomethine bond of the seven-membered heteroring. Compounds (3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 17, and 19) are individual (TLC) and their structures are confirmed by the data from elemental analysis and spectroscopy.

Selenium containing heterocycles: Part 1. Synthesis of some new substituted pyrido[3',2':4,5]selenolo[3,2-d]pyrimidines and related fused tetracvclic systems

New series of selenolo[2,3-b]pyridine, pyrido[3′,2′:4,5]selenolo[3,2-d]pyrimidine, 7,8-dihydro-2,4-dimethylpyrrolo [1,2-a]pyrido[3′,2′:4,5]selenolo[3,2-d]pyrimidin-10(6H)-one and 7,9-dimethylpyrido[3′,2′:4,5]selenolo[3,2-d][1,2,4] triazolo[4,3-c]pyrimidine derivatives were synthesised from 3-cyano-4,6-dimethylpyridine-2(1H)-selenone (1). Spectroscopic (IR, 1H, MS) of the newly synthesised compounds are reported.

SYNTHESIS OF DIARYLSULPHIDES AND DIARYLSULPHONES CONTAINING PYRAZOLINE, ISOXAZOLINE, PYRIMIDINE AND CONDENSED PYRIDAZINE MOIETIES

Abstract Arylhydrazones 2a-c obtained by the reaction of diazotized 4-amino-4′-nitrodiaryi sulphide (1) with active methylene compounds i.e. ethyl acetoacetate, acetylacetone and diethyl malonate are condensed with hydrazines, hydroxylamine, urea and thiourea to give the corresponding pyrazolines (3, 4, 8, 9, 13), isoxazolines (5, 10) and pyrimidines (6, 7, 11, 12, 14, 15). Intramolecular cyclization of arylhydrazones 2a, c with AlCl3 in chlorobenzene yielded the cinnoline derivatives (16, 17). Reaction of cinnoline derivative (16) with hydrazines afforded the corresponding pyrazolo[4,3-c]cinnoline derivatives (18, 19). Oxidation of some of the prepared sulphides with H2O2/AcOH at room temperature gave the corresponding sulphones (20-30).
