Callus induction and culture from explants of Erysimum scoparium in a growth regulator-free medium

Calli from cotyledon, hypocotyl and radicle explants of Erysimum scoparium (Brassicaceae) were induced and cultured using a MS medium without growth regulators. Calli obtained from cotyledon or hypocotyl explants showed a higher growth rate while radicle-derived calli exhibited poor growth. Cotyledon-derived calli were compact and green-colored while hypocotyl- and radicle-derived calli were friable and with creamy-green pigmentation. Histological analysis was carried out during culture and the development of abundant vascular elements and meristematic nodules were found. Subculture on a growth regulator-free medium during 10 months did not ecrease callus growth.

La Medición de la Eficiencia Universitaria: Una Aplicación del Análisis Envolvente de Datos

Resumen En este articulo se presenta un analisis del grado de eficiencia tecnica con que actuan los departamentos universitarios. En este caso la universidad elegida ha sido la Universidad de La Laguna, llevando a cabo el analisis para un curso academico. La metodologia utilizada es el Analisis Envolvente de Datos, analisis que permite conocer mejor como funcionan los departamentos universitarios. Ademas, la metodologia suministra informacion para mejorar la eficiencia y facilitar la gestion universitaria. La principal conclusion del estudio es que la asignacion de los recursos destinados a la educacion superior, es susceptible de ser mejorada en los aspectos concernientes a la eficiencia en el uso de los mismos. As study case the analysis is done using data for one academic year in the University of La Laguna in Spain. The methodology used is the Data Envolvent Analysis, method that allows knowing better the functioning of the university departments. In addition, the methodology gives information to improve efficiency and to facilitate the university management. The most important conclusion of the study is that the resources assigned to higher education can be improved in aspects related to the efficiency in the use of them.
