The Status of E-Finance in Developing Countries

Rassule Hadidi

The purpose of this commentary is to identify some impediments that affect successful implementation of e‐finance initiatives in developing countries. These impediments are not adequately addressed in the UNCTAD 2002 report. We need to overcome these to be able to move forward with implementing e‐finance related initiatives in developing countries. It is hoped that by implementing e‐finance initiatives, we will be able to achieve the United Nations Millennium Development Goal.

Development and implementation of a Web-enabled CyberCollaboratory for Asynchronous Teams (Web-CCAT)

Donna Dufner; Ojoung Kwon; Rassule Hadidi

This paper describes the theoretical foundation, architecture, and implementation of Web-CCAT, a CyberCollaboratory for Asynchronous Teams. Through Web-CCAT students have asynchronous access to software tools such as group decision support system (GDSS); multi-user, computer aided software engineering (CASE); and multi-user project management. Because Web-CCAT is a flexible environment, it can be used for group project assignments incorporated into either a traditional, face-to-face pedagogy or a distance learning pedagogy. The primary objectives for Web-CCAT are to provide our students with the opportunity to participate in and enjoy the benefits of cooperative learning experiences without having to coordinate meetings or come to campus; and to provide a richer collaborative environment asynchronously than is possible in a traditional face-to-face classroom.

A quantitative method for the selection of Hospital Information Systems Components

Rassule Hadidi; Michael S. Leonard; W. Bradford Ashton

Abstract An analytical approach for Hospital Information Systems Components selection is developed. The methodology is described in detail and an application example is presented. The approach combines individual utility functions for a group of decision makers to form a group utility function. The resultant group utility function is used to evaluate different systems components and select the best available alternative.

Managing the Scientific Literature Overload: Digital Object Identifiers and Scopus

Daniel Power; Rassule Hadidi

JMWAIS is part of the growing expansion of digital publishing. JMWAIS is encouraging active researchers to share their scholarship widely. The Journal of the Midwest Association for Information Systems (JMWAIS) is contributing to the expansion of scholarly publication and to the scientific literature overload. JMWAIS editors also seek to participate in possible solutions to better managing, finding, and disseminating scholarly communications. To further this goal, in Fall 2017, JMWAIS editors created Digital Object Identifiers (DOI) for all previously published articles. Future JMWAIS articles will also be assigned individual DOI. Digital knowledge can be filtered and managed.

Modern Information Systems: Expanding the Boundaries

Daniel Power; Rassule Hadidi

The phenomenon called information systems has changed and evolved. This note examines and proposes definitions that can guide editorial decision making. The boundaries of the phenomenon are expanding and both public and private information systems are easily accessible. Modern information systems are complex, socio-technical systems with a global reach and a wide range of purposes.
