Commonly known, the gyrator-based OTA simulated floating inductor can be divided into two categories; 3-OTA and 4-OTA structure which perform identically in the ideal phenomena where all OTAs nonidealities i.e. parasitic elements, effect of finite open-loop bandwidth and noise have been neglected. It has been found in R. Banchuin et al. (2005) that the 4-OTA-based floating inductor has better functional and noise performances than its 3-OTA counterpart in the practical phenomena where all of the cited nonidealities included. However, this conclusion has been made based upon the assumption that all OTAs are of the bipolar type. Therefore, due to the rise of the age of CMOS technology; an attempt to find the difference between the 3-CMOS-OTA and 4-CMOS-OTA based floating inductors has been made. Including all of the cited nonidealities, the 4-CMOS-OTA-based floating inductor also has both better functional and noise performances than its 3-CMOS-OTA counterpart. This conclusion strengthens the superiority of the 4-OTA structure over the 3-OTA counterpart since it has been found to be independent of the basis technology and also supports the design guideline proposed in R. Banchuin et al. (2005)

In this research, we have studied the practical OTA-based floating inductor and propose its complete passive equivalent circuit where the finite bandwidth effect which used to be neglected in the previous work is now included. Furthermore, we also propose the accuracy evaluation of this passive equivalent circuit by comparing it with the target active OTA-based floating inductor. Finally, we mention our further studies which are the inclusion of the mismatch among each OTA and the modelling of the passive equivalent circuit of the other type of the OTA-based floating inductor

In this research, the practical 4-OTA-based floating inductor based upon the often cited monolithic CMOS technology has been studied and its complete passive equivalent circuit model, where the effects of both parasitic elements and finite opened-loop bandwidth have been taken into account, has been proposed. The accuracy evaluation of the proposed model has also been performed. The resulting model has been found to be excellently accurate with a considerably very small average error. Furthermore, the further study which is the inclusion of the mismatches among OTAs in order to obtain the most accurate results has also been proposed. However, the proposed passive equivalent circuit model has been found to be a convenience tool for the design of any signal processing circuits which require the CMOS-OTA-based floating inductors due to its considerably very small average error and the nature of the monolithic CMOS technology which allows the exclusion of the mismatches among OTAs.

In this research, the alternatively structured higher performance practical OTA-based floating inductor which requires four OTAs i.e. 4-OTA based floating inductor, which has been found to be practically far superior to its 3-OTA counterpart, has been studied and its practically applicable passive equivalent circuit model, where the effects of both major OTAs nonidealities entitled parasitic elements and finite opened-loop bandwidth respectively, have been taken into account, has been proposed. This research has been performed based upon the often cited monolithic CMOS technology. The resulting model has been found to be excellently accurate with considerably very small average error. The proposed passive equivalent circuit model has been found to be a convenience tool for the design of any analog and mixed signal circuits e.g. filters and oscillator etc.

In this research, the practical OTA-based inductors of all structures have been studied and their complete passive equivalent circuit models, where the effects of both parasitic elements and finite opened-loop bandwidth have been taken into account, also contain only the conventional standard linear elements i.e. the ordinary resistor, inductor and capacitor, without any infeasible high order element e.g. super inductor etc., have been proposed. The resulting models have been found to be excellently accurate, excellently straight forward, far superior to the previously proposed ones and completely realizable by the passive elements. Hence, the proposed passive equivalent circuit models have been found to be the convenience and versatile tools for the implementation of any analog and mixed signal processing circuits and systems.

In this research, the effect of two major OTAs nonidealities entitled the parasitic elements and finite opened-loop bandwidth to the passive equivalent circuit model of the alternatively structured higher performance OTA-based floating inductor which requires four OTAs i.e. 4-OTA based floating inductor, which has been found to be practically far superior to its 3-OTA counterpart, have been explored. The contributory results of this research have been found to be the derivation of the passive equivalent circuit model of the 4-OTA-based floating inductor under the effect of both major nonidealities which has been found to be applicable in the practical phenomena. The derived passive equivalent circuit model has also been found to provide a sufficient accuracy. Hence, it has been found to be a convenience tool for the design of any inductor substitution based analog/mixed signal filters.
