Avaliação das ações de saúde bucal no Programa Saúde da Família no distrito de Mosqueiro, Pará

A ampliacao das equipes do Programa Saude da Familia (PSF), com a implantacao da equipe de saude bucal (ESB), previsto na Portaria 1.444 de 28/12/2000, foi um importante passo para a reorganizacao da atencao a saude bucal e um maior acesso da populacao de baixa renda as acoes de saude e tratamento dentario de qualidade. No Distrito de Mosqueiro (PA), a ESB foi incluida no contexto do PSF em 2002 e desenvolve suas atividades junto a comunidade, com visitas domiciliares, em escolas e na propria Unidade Saude da Familia. Com o objetivo de avaliar as acoes de saude bucal executadas, foi aplicado um questionario com questoes fechadas e semi-abertas para 103 usuarios do PSF que frequentaram uma das Unidades Saude da Familia em julho de 2004. Os dados obtidos foram tabulados e demonstraram que a maioria dos usuarios e de adultos jovens, do genero feminino e que ja concluiu o ensino medio, porem sem acesso ao ensino superior. Este publico considera que houve uma melhora consideravel na qualidade de saude bucal, apresentando-se satisfeito quanto a atuacao da atual equipe.

Matrix metalloproteinases, tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinases, and growth factors regulate the aggressiveness and proliferative activity of keratocystic odontogenic tumors

OBJECTIVE The objective of this preliminary study was to evaluate the expression of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinases (TIMPs) and growth factors in keratocystic odontogenic tumors (KOTs). STUDY DESIGN The expression of MMPs, TIMPs, growth factors, and the extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) 1/2 signaling pathway were assessed by immunohistochemistry in 15 cases of KOT and 4 cases of calcifying cystic odontogenic tumor (CCOT). RESULTS KOT samples expressed significantly higher amounts of MMPs, TIMPs, growth factors, epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), and ERK compared with CCOT samples, with the exception of MMP-2 and TIMP-1. CONCLUSIONS MMP-9, TIMP-2, EGF and transforming growth factor α act together and likely regulate the proliferation and aggressiveness of KOT. ERK-1/2 serves as the transducer of signals generated by these proteins, which signal through the common receptor, EGFR. This process may be related to the increased proliferation and aggressiveness observed in KOT.

Experiência do ensino integrado ao serviço para formação em Saúde: percepção de alunos e egressos de Odontologia

Esta pesquisa objetiva avaliar a importância do estagio extramuros na formacao profissional em Odontologia, por meio da percepcao de alunos e egressos que atuam no Sistema Unico de Saude (SUS). Foram selecionados 36 portfolios, construidos pelos alunos em suas experiencias extramurais, entre 2009 a 2014. Alem da analise dos portfolios foram entrevistados cinco egressos que atuam no SUS, para responderem questionamentos relacionados a contribuicao do estagio para atuacao no SUS. Para analise dos discursos, utilizou-se abordagem qualitativa, com analise de conteudo tematico. Observou-se que as praticas de vivencia nos servicos de saude foram valorizadas por permitirem, sobretudo, reconhecer a realidade social e os servicos, com suas deficiencias e dificuldades. Conclui-se que as experiencias extramurais motivam a formacao de profissionais mais humanos, eticos e reflexivos, tornando-os conhecedores e potenciais modificadores da realidade da saude que nao condiz aos principios do SUS.

Gravidez na adolescência e associação com indicadores de renda, educação e acesso às Tecnologias de Informação e Comunicação no Brasil e na Amazônia Legal Brasileira

Objectives: To analyse the association between the information access through a computer with Internet connexion in households and the teenage pregnancy, taking as reference the municipalities of Brazilian Legal Amazon compared to the rest of Brazil. Methods: Ecological study based on data collected from the Demographic Census of peoples and households performed in Brazil, in the year 2010, by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics. The integration of the databases was performed, from which variables were selected for the municipalities. These variables represent the dimensions of fecundity, income, education, ownership of computer with Internet access in the households, and space of reference (Brazil, Amazon). The visualisation of the spatial distribution of teenage pregnancy in Brazilian municipalities is presented in the form of map. According to the classes of ages, the medium percentages of occurrence of the phenomenon in the municipalities of Amazon are compared to the municipalities of Brazil. Interactively, mining algorithms were applied to extract rules of association between the variables of the problem. Results: For the municipalities of Brazilian Legal Amazon with the lowest percentages of households with computer with Internet access (< 4,49%), the probability of presenting the highest percentages of teenage pregnancy (≥ 9,39%) is equal to 0,723, while for the others municipalities of Brazil, this probability is equal to 0,23. The phenomenon of teenage pregnancy presented association with the space of reference (Brazil, Amazon) and with the ownership of computer with Internet access in the households. Conclusions: The municipalities of Brazilian Legal Amazon present high occurrence rates of teenage pregnancy compared to the others municipalities of Brazil. Associated to the low-infrastructure of Internet access, the occurrence of this phenomenon reveals the unequal conditions that managers and health professionals can find to execute projects that use Information and Communications Technologies.
