Differential flow field analysis in engine development

AVL uses three-dimensional Particle Imaging Velocimetry to measure velocities in an axial, tangential and radial direction. This makes it possible, for example, to measure not only tumble flow but also more complex mixed forms consisting of tumble and swirl in the cylinder.

Um Gasgeschwindigkeiten in axialer, tangentialer und radialer Richtung in der Motorentwicklung zu messen, setzt die AVL das dreidimensionale Verfahren „Particle Imaging Velocimetry“ ein. Damit wird es beispielsweise moglich, nicht nur die Tumble-Stromung, sondern auch komplexere Mischformen aus Tumble und Drall im Zylinder zu erfassen.
