The analysis provided knowledge about ecosystems, geomorphology, the use and coverage of local plants. The conclusions show the importance of field classes as a pedagogical strategy and environmental awareness.

This paper discusses the evaluation of the environmental impacts within the Industrial Complex of Acu Port, (Sao Joao da Barra - RJ), with emphasis on the impact comes resulting from the process of urban density caused by the centralized power inherent in large projects like this. Th us, the present study measures and evaluates the impacts caused by the process of high density of AID (area of direct infl uence) of the enterprise. The methodology used is named Ecological Footprint, a tool to assess the impact of continuous population growth and its implications on the environmental resistance capacity of the area of investigation.

Globalized world is marked by agility of connections related to goods and services’ circulation, composing a net in which ports are essential elements (CUNHA et al., 2007). Port activity directly impacts nearby environment (PORTO & TEIXEIRA, 2002). Once ports are installed in coastal areas, they also affect fishery activities in their influence area. The implementation of the Acu Port Complex will promote an expressive socioenvironmental change in its vicinity, mainly interfering with the life of regional artisanal fi shermen (DI BENEDITTO, 2001). Studies focusing identifi cation of potential socioenvironmental confl icts between marine fi shery and port activities are thus essential to propose appropriate measures for prevention and mitigation of impacts.
