A high-yield, low-cost solar cell process utilizing string ribbon silicon dual ribbon growth

Richard L. Wallace; D.S. Harvey; A.P. Anselmo; Jack I. Hanoka

This paper reports a major advance in string ribbon technology that allows for doubling the output of a string ribbon crystal growth and halving many associated costs. In conjunction with this, a number of advances in the growth technology have resulted in significant gains in production metrics and the lowest cost ribbon Evergreen Solar has ever produced.
