Abstract Four new genera of Podapolipidae (Acarina) are described. They are all parasites of beetles and cockroaches in Southeast Asia and the East Indies: Panesthipolipus from Panesthia angustipennis (Blaberidae), Peripolipus from Periplaneta spp. (Blattidae), Dilopolipus from Dilochrosis sp. (Scarabaeidae) and Stenopolipus from Catharsius sp. (Scarabaeidae). Keys to the 19 genera of Podapolipidae are presented. Distribution of the following species are reported from the Indo-Australian Region: Archipolipus canthoni, Bakerpolipus serratus, Coccipolipus macfarlanei, Dilopolipus leei n. sp., Locustacarus trachealis, L. masoni, Panesthipolipus oudemansi n. comb., Peripolipus muraii n. sp., Podapolipoides spp., Stenopolipus langi n. comb., S. sinensis n. sp., Tetrapolipus batocerae, T. hunteri and T. lundi.

Abstract Ovacarus longisetosus Hajiqanbar and Husband n. sp. (Acari: Podapolipidae) is described and illustrated from Amara (Paracelia) saxicola Zimm. (Coleoptera: Carabidae) from northeastern Iran and compared with previously described species, Ovacarus clivinae Stannard and Vaishampayan, 1971 and O. peellei Husband, 1974 from Illinois and North Dakota, U.S.A. New records of Podapolipidae from Iran include: Tarsopolipus massai Husband, 1989 from an undetermined scarab beetle, Coccipolipus macfarlanei Husband, 1972 from Coccinella septempunctata L. and C. undecempunctata L., Dorsipes sp. and Eutarsopolipus sp. from Amara (Paracelia) saxicola.

Abstract Six new species of Podapolipidae (Acari) are described. All are parasites of tenebrionid beetles, cockroaches, and grasshoppers from Australia and Hawaii: Podapolipus platyzosteriae n.sp. from Platyzosteria sp. (Blattidae), P. womersleyi n.sp. from Anamesia sp. (Blattidae), P. pacificus n.sp. from Gonocephalum carpentariae (Blackburn) (Tenebrionidae), P. haramotoi n.sp. from Blapstinus dilatus Le Conte (Tenebrionidae), P. monistriae n.sp. from Monistria pustulifera (Pyrgomorphidae) and P. naudoi n.sp. from Coryphistes cyanopteroides Tepper (Acrididae). A new division of the genus into species groups is proposed.

ABSTRACT The genus Podapolipus is reviewed. Four groups of species are recognized within the genus, one group from Tenebrionidae. Podapolipus reconditus Rovelli and Grassi 1888 and P. apodus (Tragardh 1902) are redescribed. P. reconditus, P. apodus and P. tribolii Feldman-Muhsam and Havivi 1972, all from Tenebrionidae in the Mediterranean region, are discussed. Keys to Podapolipus from Tenebrionidae and a discussion of relationships of ten species of Podapolipus from throughout the world are presented.

Abstract Kurosapolipus n. gen. (Acari: Podapolipidae) is described for mites occurring on Macropophora trochlearis and M accentifer from Peru, Brazil and Argentina. New species are K. camerikae (type species for the genus), K. martinsi and K. feldmanmuhsamae. Kurosapolipus brasilensis, new combination, is included. A new genus, Orthapolipus, includes O. nicsarae (type species for the genus) and O.blattae, new combinations. A review of 9 genera of mites in which adult females have 4 legs, Tetrapolipus sensu latu, is presented.

Abstract Two new species of podapolipid mites, Dorsipes tefflii and D. auncinius, are described, illustrated, and compared with related species of Dorsipes in the platysmae group. Both species are ectoparasites of Tefflus zebulianus reichardi Kolbe collected in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. These are the 1st records of Dorsipes in Africa. Keys to the ten species of Dorsipes are provided.

Abstract Dorsipes curtonoti n. sp. is described from Amara (Curtonotus) gigantea Motschulsky (Coleoptera: Carabidae) from Japan. This is the first record of the inflatus group of Dorsipes in Japan. The new species and two additional species of Dorsipes in the group inflatus are compared with each other and species in the groups dorsipes and platysmae. Figures of instars of D. inflatus and D. notopus not previously illustrated and keys to groups and species of Dorsipes are presented.

Abstract A new species of podapolipid mite, Eutarsopolipus platyni, is described, illustrated, and compared with related species of Eutarsopolipus in the biunguis group. The species is an ectoparasite of Platynus brunneomarginatus Mannerheim collected from Alameda, Marin, and Santa Clara Counties in California, U.S.A., and Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada. This is the first record of the biunguis group of Eutarsopolipus in western North America. A key to the seven species of the biunguis group of Eutarsopolipus is provided.
