ABSTRACT The following 16 new species, two new genera and a new subgenus of the Family Tarsonemidae are described and illustrated: Daidalotarsonemus limonensis spec. nov., Daidalotar-soenemus ternifoliae spec. nov., Dendroptus irregularis spec. nov., Floridotarsonemus edule spec. nov., Neodendroptus gen. nov., Neodendroptus perseae spec. nov., Spinatarsonemus gen. nov., Spinatarsonemus alajuelensis spec. nov., Spinatarsonemus costarricensis spec. nov., Spinatarsonemus parsoni spec. nov., Tarsonemella (Paratarsonemella) ramirezi subgen. nov., spec. nov., Tarsonemus solengrandis spec. nov., Tarsonemus pseudokennedyi spec. nov., Steneotarsonemus comosus spec. nov., Steneotarsonemus kruseae spec. nov., Xenotarsonemus gordoni spec. nov., Xenotarsonemus camarae spec. nov. and Xenotarsonemus vargasi spec. nov. Abstract Four species of the family Tuckerellidae were collected from Costa Rica. These were: Tuckerella elegans Rossi de Simons, Tuckerella knorri Baker & Tuttle, Tuckerella ornata (Tucker) and Tuckerella pavoniformis (Ewing). Tuckerella knorri was found to be the most important agricultural pest. A key to the species of Tuckerella found in Costa Rica is presented.

Abstract A new species, Steneotarsonemus brasiliensis, is described and illustrated. An illustrated key is presented to separate adult, males and females of Steneotarsonemus spp. (Acari: Tarsonemidae), known to occur on gramineous plants (Poaceae) in the Western Hemisphere. Information on their hosts and distribution is included.
