OBJECTIVE to discuss, taking for reference the crisis in Brazil and its impact on public health policies, the insertion of Brazilian nursing in that context and its ways of practicing the profession, based on the study about the politicality of care. METHOD the reflection is divided into two topics, the first is about public policies, the Brazilian Unified Health System and the deconstruction of the right to health with neoliberal offensive; and the second is about the nursing political action in the fight for the right to health and for democracy. FINAL CONSIDERATIONS we emphasize that nursing must assume its sociopolitical role to contribute to the construction of a better and fairer Brazil, saying no to neoliberal reforms, as well as fighting for rights already acquired and for the resumption of the democratic stability in the country.

RESULTS One-hundred and three professionals participated in the study, with female predominance (64.1%) and time of performance equal to or greater than 21 years (32.4%). The nursing professionals of technical level and with statutory work regime were the most participative, 54.4% and 52% respectively. The total score was 69 points. The domain that reached the highest score was Job satisfaction (80 points) and the lowest was Working conditions (57 points). The statutory professionals and those with longer professional experience obtained better scores in the perception of safety culture. CONCLUSION The result of safety culture was below the recommended, indicating the need for strengthening this construct in mental health hospitals.

Objective To reflect on violence against children and adolescents in psychic suffering, and nursing care based on social phenomenology. Method Theoretical study based on the conceptions of Alfred Schütz. Results The subject in psychic suffering shows conflicts in family relationships, and is often immersed in a biographical situation that removes their autonomy, contributing violence itself. Violence is a social phenomenon expressed through power relations in the everyday world and, through group relationships, resulting in suffering for the victims. Conclusions Studies performed by Schütz enable a new look for the nursing care/health professionals who deal with this problem by allowing them to know the biographical situation, and have full stock of knowledge about their patients, their motivations and the meanings these patients attribute to their experiences. This enables the overcoming of the biomedical model and leads to valuing interpersonal relations from the perspective of a culture of peace.
