Análise microscópica do miocárdio ventricular esquerdo em cães soropositivos para cinomose

Classified pertaining to the genus Morbillivirus of the Paramyxoviridae family, the canine distemper virus is a RNA single-stranded virus with negative polarity and causes a multisystemic disease, serious and highly contagious for dogs and wild carnivores, with a high mortality rate in non-vaccinated animals or with vaccine fails. With the objective to evaluate heart histopathological alterations, particularly in the left ventricular myocardium, in dogs naturally infected with canine distemper virus, 35 dogs, males and females of different ages, were studied. All the 35 samples sent to the Veterinary Hospital of Uberaba were serum-positive for distemper (immunoassay technique in solid phase) and had in the left ventricular myocardium the following histopathologic alterations: myocarditis, hyalin degeneration, hyperemia and hemorrhage, in 42.8% (15/35), 31.4% (11/35), 14.3% (5/35) and 11.4% (4/35), respectively. Having carried out the Qui-Quadrado test with a significancy level of 0.05, it can be concluded that there is a high correlation (p=0.02) between the infected animals with canine distemper virus and histopathological alterations found in the left ventricular myocardium.

PERFIL HEMATOLÓGICO DE CÃES (Canis lupus familiaris) SOROPOSITIVOS PARA LEISHMANIA SPP ATENDIDOS NO HOSPITAL VETERINÁRIO DE UBERABA – MG

O objetivo deste trabalho foi caracterizar o perfil hematologico de caes reagentes para Leishmania spp atendidos no Hospital Veterinario de Uberaba – MG. Foram coletadas amostras de sangue de 15 caes sororreagentes nos testes de Imunofluorescencia Indireta e ELISA para realizacao do hemograma. Dos quinze caes, 12 (80%) eram femeas, 53,33% (n=9) tinha idade acima de 8 anos, enquanto que a raca de maior prevalencia foi a sem raca definida com 6 animais (40%). O achado mais frequente no eritrograma foi a anemia (53,3%) (n=8). Destes animais, 75% (n=6) apresentaram anemia normocitica-normocromica. Os niveis plasmaticos de proteinas totais estavam aumentados em 8 dos 15 (53,33%) caes. A leucometria mostra que 03 (20%) caes apresentaram leucopenia e 02 (13,3%), leucocitose. A avaliacao diferencial dos leucocitos destes animais revelou neutrofilia em 3 (20%) e neutropenia em 02 (13,33%), desvio para a esquerda em 03 (20%), monocitose em apenas 01 (0,66%), eosinopenia em 08 (53,33%) e linfopenia em 03 (20%). Conclui-se que no presente estudo prevaleceu o quadro de anemia, hiperproteinenia e eosinopenia na avaliacao do hemograma de animais soropositivos para LVC. A analise valores do perfil hematologico obtidos dos animais estudados auxiliam o diagnostico da LVC.

Hiperadrenocorticismo canino: relato de caso

The canine hyperadrenocorticism (HAC) is common in middle aged dogs to elderly and has no sexual predisposition. Its main clinical alteration are polyuria, polydipsia, alopecia bilateral and pendulous abdomen. This paper aims to report a case of adrenal tumor hyperadrenocorticism in a poodle of 10 years of age treated at the Veterinary Hospital of Uberaba. The animal showed clinical signs characteristic of this pathology and laboratorial tests compatible with the diagnosis of adrenal tumor hyperadrenocorticism, was submitted to the adrenelectomy as treatment, but died five hours after the procedure, histopathological examination revealed hyperplasia of adrenal gland.
