Culturally the southwestern region of Mato Grosso is diverse, which can be attributed to the existence of migrant populations and traditional communities. The aim of this case study is to discuss the organization of rural women in southwestern Mato Grosso, who get their salary and help to increase family income through sustainable harvesting of native fruits of the cerrado (the savannah). The money obtained by women is expressive and has contributed significantly to the survival of the family group, as well as for the recognition of their work force and citizenship. However, public policies need to be adjusted in order to enhance the work of women in the production and reproduction of the rural family and its social contribution to regional development.

Aimed to evaluate, through the Human Development Index (IDHM) in the municipalities of the Pantanal biome, the human development of the foundation/emancipation municipal, establishing comparisons to the IDHM of the Pantanal municipalities with the Brazilian IDH and the states of Mato Grosso (MT) and Mato Grosso do Sul (MS). The municipalities of MT and MS were selected from the biome, grouped by date of foundation/emancipation in periods of 50 years. The municipalities founded in the 18th century showed the best results in the IDHM (m) and indicators of income (m) and education (m). The emancipated ones in 1913 to 1963 stood out in longevity (m). The emancipated between 1811 and 1861 had the lowest values for the IDHM (m), income (m), education (m) and longevity (m). The municipalities of MT and MS contained in the biome showed inferior results when compared to the states and to Brazil. The emancipation that does not observe socio-structural sustainability can result in the creation of municipalities without the basic characteristics of maintenance and support to human development, like Barão de Melgaço and Bodoquena. It was concluded that the human development of the foundation/ emancipation of the municipalities were not directly associated with the periods of its creation, that is, the oldest, in general, did not stand out to the younger ones, and vice versa. In addition, issues such as the profile of public management and administration, public policies, geographic location, natural wealth, infrastructure, etc. can contribute significantly to the results of the IDHM both positively and negatively.

The objective of this study is to develop an interpretative route to the historic center of Cáceres/MT, which can be both a tourism product and an educational resource for activities related to heritage education. The tools used to collect data were document and field research, photography record and collection of geographic coordinates through DGPS. Th data collected in the field were spatialized, and associated with textual information, enabling the creation of products: satellite-map image, themed-map and pocket guide. Three experimental visits, with visitors (tourism event) and students, were carried out in order to validate the route; and at the end of the visit the participants rated the route in terms of itinerary, relevance of historical and cultural information of the twelve stopovers along the way. The comments and suggestions made by the participants were taken into account in the final proposal. The assessment made by the target segments led us to conclude that the product proposed contributes to the development of tourism and heritage education. The key role of Cáceres in the demarcation and protection of border between Portuguese and Spanish colonies, in 1778, is highlighted. The product put forward is part of a wider research project called“Tourism and geographic information system of Cáceres, MT: contributions on planning and local development”, funded by the Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de Mato Grosso – FAPEMAT 1 University of the State of Mato Grosso (UNEMAT), Cáceres, MG, Brasil 2 University of the State of Mato Grosso (UNEMAT), Cáceres, MG, Brasil 3 University of the State of Mato Grosso (UNEMAT), Cáceres, MG, Brasil 4 University of the State of Mato Grosso (UNEMAT), Cáceres, MG, Brasil Artigo

Maurício Ferreira Mendes; Sandra Mara Alves da Silva Neves; João dos Santos Vila da Silva; Ronaldo José Neves; Tania de Paula da Silva

The family agriculture is important for the brazilian agriculture, because it provides a significant part of food to the brazilians. This composition aims at tracing the profile of family farmers who develop extractivist activity in the southwest area of Mato Grosso, contained in the basin of Alto Paraguai, in the perspective of contributing to the elaboration of productive strategies for the smallholdings and small properties of the area. Thirty extractivist female farmers were identified, distributed in the settlements: a) Bom Jardim/Furna Sao Jose, b) Corixo and c) Margarida Alves, what guided the definition of the universe of research to correspond to 100%. Within the period of March and June of 2012 information were collected through interviews driven by semi structured routs. It was found that 30% of
