In this paper, we have improved the limitations of our previous Richardson’s extrapolation spreadsheet calculator for computing differentiations numerically. These limitations are the value of D(0,0) keyed in by users using 3-point central difference formula, and the fact that the previous spreadsheet calculator can only calculate the approximate definite differentiation up to level 4 × 4. If the function to be differentiated is complicated, calculating D(0,0) using 3-point central difference formula can be tedious as parentheses should be put in a proper order when writing the calculation command. Otherwise, the calculation command may lead to a wrong answer. In this improved Richardson’s extrapolation spreadsheet calculator, we redesigned the Richardson’s extrapolation spreadsheet calculator, where users are only required to give the value of x, the function to be differentiated f(x), and the step size h value without writing the command to obtain D(0,0). Consequently, the calculations will be done auto...

In this paper, we have further improved the limitations of our previous two Richardson’s extrapolation spreadsheet calculators for computing differentiations numerically. The new feature in this new Richardson’s extrapolation spreadsheet calculator is fully automated up to any level based on the stopping criteria using VBA programming. The new version is more flexible because it is controlled by programming. Furthermore, it reduces computational time and CPU memory.

A finite switchboard state machine is a specialized finite state machine. The algebraic approach of finite nswitchboard state machine is still lacking in literature. In this paper, we applied the algebraic approach of finite nswitchboard state machine and study its related properties. Real life examples of the applications are given by discussing nthe algebraic properties used.

In the previous work on Eulers spreadsheet calculator for solving an ordinary differential equation, the Visual Basic for Application (VBA) programming was used, however, a graphical user interface was not developed to capture users input. This weakness may make users confuse on the input and output since those input and output are displayed in the same worksheet. Besides, the existing Eulers spreadsheet calculator is not interactive as there is no prompt message if there is a mistake in inputting the parameters. On top of that, there are no users instructions to guide users to input the derivative function. Hence, in this paper, we improved previous limitations by developing a user-friendly and interactive graphical user interface. This improvement is aimed to capture users input with users instructions and interactive prompt error messages by using VBA programming. This Eulers graphical user interface spreadsheet calculator is not acted as a black box as users can click on any cells in the worksheet to see the formula used to implement the numerical scheme. In this way, it could enhance self-learning and life-long learning in implementing the numerical scheme in a spreadsheet and later in any programming language.

POGIL has been initiated primarily in chemistry education for over the last 15 years ago. In this structure, students built understanding based on their prior knowledge, experiences, skills and attitude which consequently follow a learning cycle of exploration, concept formation and invention. Based on multiple previous studies, it has been examined and proofs the effectiveness of POGIL in improving students’ study performance. This paper cater about general background of POGIL and activity in project scheduling that has been conducted. In conclusion, educators can increase the strength of student learning in their classes by implementing POGIL.
