Sintomatología depresiva y problemas relacionados al consumo de alcohol durante la formación académica de estudiantes de medicina

Con el objetivo de evaluar la frecuencia de sintomatologia depresiva (SDe) y problemas relacionados al consumo de alcohol (PRCA) durante la formacion academica de estudiantes de Medicina de la Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, se realizo un estudio transversal en estos estudiantes, del primero a sexto ano. Usando la escala de depresion de Zung, para evaluar SDe, y el cuestionario CAGE, para evaluar PRCA, se encontro que el 23,3% de los encuestados presento SDe y el 7,3%, PRCA. Se encontro, asi mismo que la frecuencia de SDe y PRCA fue mayor en los estudiantes de los primeros anos de estudios. Se recomienda que hay necesidad de actuar en la prevencion y deteccion de estas entidades desde los primeros anos de formacion academica de estudiantes de Medicina

Alteraciones del Yo en las fases iniciales del espectro esquizofrénico

The pathogenic nucleus of schizophrenia has varied according to the different eras and influences of distinguished clinical researchers. Self-disorders have also been recognised to be at the heart of this disorder, although they have seldom been studied due to their subjective nature. Recently, due to the growing interest in the study of the early stages of schizophrenia, the study of self-disorders has been resumed. The self-disorders in schizophrenia model, developed by Sass and Parnas, proposes that in this disorder the person suffers loss of the first-person perspective and experiences hyperreflexibility, diminished self-affection and disturbance of the field of awareness. Therefore, the person experiences feelings of strangeness about him/herself, difficulty in understanding the common sense of things and difficulty interacting with his/her environment. Based on this model, self-disorder evaluation instruments have been developed and empirical studies have been conducted to evaluate people at risk of developing a schizophrenia spectrum disorder. These studies show that self-disorders are found in prepsychotic stages and that their manifestation may predict the transition to schizophrenia spectrum disorders. These results have important clinical implications as they enable people in the early stages of the disorder to be identified and create the opportunity to apply early therapeutic interventions.

Neurofibromatosis tipo 1 asociado a tumor maligno de la vaina de nervio periférico y a carcinoma de colon

Neurofibromatosis type 1 is a dominant autosomal disease caused by mutation of the neurofibrin gene located in chromosome 17q11.2. This disease presents a variety of clinical manifestations and predisposition to develop tumors, leading to high mortality. We report the case of a patient with neurofibromatosis type 1 diagnosis who developed a malignant tumor of peripheral nerve sheath and colon cancer. The authors review the literature as well as the clinical factors, imaging and histological features associated to neurofibromas malignant transformation.
